Beware of this seller
Hi members,
I just had a problem with a seller from Italy on eBay. The nick is: lasondassassina. He charged me 15 € for a trackable shipment from Italy to Turkey - A short international distance.
What I received was a non-trackable snail mail. The actual cost ? 1,45 €. Members from Italy might correct me if I am wrong but Posta Prioritaria is the cheapest and slowest he could go, and it is not trackable. I was expecting Raccomandata (registered) at that price.
Beware of this person if you are intending to buy Italian stuff.
Regards,
Ari

You should be able to file with ebay or paypal for excessive shipping charges. You have a record of what you paid, and you can take a picture of the envelope you received (with postage indicated), and they should be able to refund a reasonable difference.

You are right, posta prioritaria is NOT registered and NOT tracked and is way cheaper...
Listening to your story it's quite ironic some Ebayers are complaining with my $7 shipping charges for REGISTERED airmail, even after receiving envelopes saying actual postage was €8.40 in some cases (= $10.50...)

If you want to be a real jerk about it since he didn't send it with tracking you could say you never received it.
It's just a thought because it's there fault they didn't send it the way you requested.

Thanks Brian, tempting but I will not be going down to that guys level. I left him the appropriate feedback. And hopefully members from the forum will refrain from doing bussiness with that guy.
When compared to rest of the world, italian posts registered mail service is expensive. But I was willing to pay that sort of shipping, and even when what I paid was excessive for italian registered mail.
Registered mail to US would cost me 1.5 € for a single card in a bubble mailer, and 3 € for around 10 cards in Turkey. So I can guess why some people would be uneasy with costs, especially if they are not familiar with Euros. It is because of people like the guy that lied to me that people are very uneasy with high shipping costs.
It is always the same with this type. "There are other costs" ! Yes, an envelope and a trip to post office. He did not even use a bubble mailer or hard toploader, and is lecturing me on costs. My god, I believe these people never had a real job, so they think I would pay 15 € for their 15 minute :)

FYI, the price to send a package from the US to another country with Registered Mail is $11.50 PLUS the cost of regular postage by weight.kalimno wrote: When compared to rest of the world, italian posts registered mail service is expensive.
Sorry to hear about your troubles, I think you did the right thing.
