Black front filler 006

Post by pickle.69 » Thu Nov 16, 2006 10:15 am

Yesterday I have seen a filler 006 with a small damage on the top, the black layer color missed for a small piece.
Under that it seamed that there was a foil layer.
Is this normal for these fillers or are there two verions?
I have two but sadly not with a defect so I can not see through the black layer. Did anybody put these under a microscope allready, how could I find out without damaging the card?

I think there could be two as it would make sense for Wotc to see how good the color covers the foil layer.
Perfect example is the Half half filler pair (14/15)
Basicly the same as 006 but leaving out half of the card.

Thoughts?

Deep Black with foil effects, while,it's hard to see the difference with a scan, once you have them in hands, you see that immediately,by playing with lights.

Ehm, I have 5 of those Fillers and they all seem "Foily" under direct light (tend to show rainbow reflections).

Am I very Lucky or Unlucky ? I mean, do we have any idea whether one of the 2 versions is rarer ?

Pickle, if your 2 are different could you send me a comparison scan or tell me how you spotted the difference exatly?

Thx

Filer cards are a touchy topic. Before officially distingushing these two allgedly different versions, I want to hear more about it and,at best, hold both versions in hand to check them myself. Maybe this time enough people join the discussion and share their knowledge to reach an unquestionable and unanimous verdict.

Speaking about filler cards, card no. 007 (the black card with the shooting star fvzappa discovered a long time ago) is confirmed to be a filler card.

Hi Ralph.
The answer is also in the Distribution:
(Black Round Corner Filler Card) (none) some English Mirage boosters 1996-10-08
some English Judgment boosters 2002-05-18
The Mirage ones are not Shiny simply because Foils didn't exist at the time of Mirage. The Judgment one is Shiny as it tooks the space of a Foil in a Booster. Now there's a Third Version, which is a Fake Filler.

The idea that there has to be a foil version of the black filler card is very old. With your discovery, there seems to be a proof, yet I am cautious. Could you please go into detail how you distinguish a fake black filler card from a nonfoil black filler card from a foil black filler card?
