Seal of a CE/IE Set

Post by CHaPuZaS » Tue Jan 10, 2012 3:58 pm

I am thinking about buying a Collector/International Edition Set. I haven't still decided if I want to put it i a Binder or want it Sealed, but I'm tempted by the last.

Having that into account, Do you know of any reliable photo or description of the original seal? I don't want to have a beloved set at home fill out with Innistrad Commons.

Thank you!

This is what it looks like opened

if you find a set with a single sealed inner package, probably not legit.

Outside there wasn't any markings or such, just a generic clear shrinkwrap.

Mine is CE, not ICE so not sure if this matters, but don't think it does.

Troll and Toad should have an image of a sealed set. I'd trust their images, when it's them that are using them, and not an Ebay ripper.

Are you interested in one each of the two or just either one? I have an extra at home but don't remember which it is. I can guirentee the seal.

On that note, two of the sets I have have seals that are seperating. Just a small leangth along a seam where it has parted. Not sure why as they have not been handled hardly at all.

I'm thinking about which one I prefer. It'll depend on the monetary difference and rarity.

For this one, it seems there are some of them in Europe and secure it. It is worth a post or an article, but I've been robbed most of the things I buy during the last half of the year (2 out of each 3). I'm investigating it, but there seems to be an idiot at the post office that has most of MY Giant Growth and Scryb Sprites Global Sets.

Chapuzas, you shouldn't investigate it yourself, present formal complaint to the post service and, if needed, to the police

@Gits: I have tried to formally ask for a solution, but the only thing they say is that "If you don't certify a shipment it's like it never has existed, neither you have no proofs for it, nor we have the obligation to".

It's incredible.

Yes, that's why I always ask to ship registered.
And it will not solve the problem. Last year I had a set from China stolen. The postal service certified that, simply.
Without tracking they can't even start to verify where is the problem, expecially with international shipments. With tracking they know where it happened, they have reports on that, and if it's not an isolated episode the police can start monitoring workers activities. They usually catch someone in the end.

From a customer point of view it's incredible that one gives to the postal service an item, they lose/steal/damage it and claim they are not responsible because you do not have proofs. But that's how it works, and I sincerely can't imagine how that could be different if I figure myself in charge for that.

Reviving the post just to ask people out there.

What would you prefer, Collector or International Edition?

So far the differences (As I remember) is that there are about 3000/5000 copies on International, and 10000 of Collectors. Also, the back of the card say International or Collector.

I would rather prefer the set to be named Collector (As I am!) but it's far more rare the international one.

As for now, I'm more interested in the International Edition, as its value might grow higher due to its rarity. What do you think?

It'll be a bit too much for me.

Value is usually determined on

Condition
Desirability
Rarity

If both are mint in boxes then there is no difference in condition.

If there is no clear preference between the two sets then popularity will not be an issue

If one set is rarer than the other then it should be worth more in the future.

I think the only real factor is whether the differences between the two sets have any bearing on their desirability.

Personally as a collector I would be happy with either.

If I was a speculator then I would buy the rarer one in the hopes of higher capital gains when I go to sell it.
