Rivals Quick Start Set missing cards that are in Introductory Two-Player set

Post by dragsamou » Tue Oct 27, 2015 8:07 am

Hi Members

As, I'm working on that subsection, some info is not accurate. According to the old website, 8 cards were added in the Introductory Two-Player set:

http://www.magiclibrarities.net/478-rar ... index.html
http://www.magiclibrarities.net/151-rar ... index.html

KAZZ'S SECOND DECK

*Phantom Monster
*Power Sink
*Mons's Goblin Raiders
*Mountain

ZAKK'S SECOND DECK

*War Mammoth
*Weakness
*Mesa Pegasus
*Swamp

Digging some old topic on the forum:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3623&hilit=rivals

In fact, all the basic lands illustrations exist, except the illustration of the Island (with 5 clouds) missing either from Kazz's first deck or Kazz's second deck:
[quote]I have a full basic land set with 1996 (all 15 lands). But could only find 14 lands for the 1995 set (with mark on back). I am missing the Island (5 clouds version).
[/quote

So, in fact, now I do have only 7 cards that were added in the Introductory Two-Player set:

*Island (5 clouds version).
*Phantom Monster
*Power Sink
*Mons's Goblin Raiders
*War Mammoth
*Weakness
*Mesa Pegasus

Can some members confirmed that it's 7 cards added in fact and not 8. Thanks for helping.

Hi Members

Mystery is solved as I could find back my Rivals Quickstart Set. So there's 9 additional cards in Introductory Two-Player Set including an extra Illustration. I have updated both subsections with extra pics and info:

Yep and the rarest Rivals Island is the red one Alexis, just 1 per deck :)

Thanks for working on this!
Hopefully it will answer some questions I had about the differences between Rivals & Introductory.

Previously, I had some questions about which cards were included in the Introductory Two-Player Sets.

The Rivals support cards page shows the support cards, which list of all the cards in the Rivals set AND how many copies of each.
http://www.magiclibrarities.net/478-rar ... 567963f4f2

This helped me to know which cards I needed to find for my collection, and I purchased a Rivals set to get those cards, so now I own the set and can see them for myself.

Having the Rivals card list on the Index page now is also helpful.
http://www.magiclibrarities.net/478-rar ... index.html

The Rivals set has 112 card + 4 deck list + 4 rules = 120 cards.
120 cards would all be printed on a single sheet, so each box set is a single sheet of cards that has been cut up and put into the box.

I have seen a misprinted one with a Swamp on the front side and a rules card on the back.

To Be Continued...

I also wanted to know what cards were in the Introductory Two Player Sets so that I could find them for my collection, but the support cards do not have deck lists on them.
http://www.magiclibrarities.net/582-rar ... ml#seecard

The Introductory Two Player Set Index page said that there were 120 cards + 10 support cards = 130 cards.
I'm not sure if these were all printed on a single sheet. Maybe a 11 card by 12 card sheet? Most sheets were 11 x 11.
Of the 120 cards, only 67 cards were listed in the index and shown in the scans, so I wasn't sure how many copies of each card were in the set.

Someone with an Introductory Two Player Set wanted to keep one copy of each card, and offered duplicates to me if I wanted them. I was surprised to find that Mons's Goblin Raiders had two copies in the Introductory Two Player Sets, but only one copy in the Rivals set.
http://www.magiclibrarities.net/151-rar ... index.html

Now you have solved the mystery, and having the card list on the Rivals Index is helpful.
I understand now, but others might still be a little confused by the way the information is presented.

I would suggest also putting the card list on the Introductory Two Player Set Index Page.
Maybe the additional cards in the Two Player Set should only be listed on the Two Player Set page, and Not on the Rivals page?

As it is, these two phrases seem to say exactly the same thing.
* Additional cards only in the different Introductory Two-Player Sets.
** Additional cards only available in the different Introductory Two-Player Sets.
It should probably be worded differently to avoid confusion in the future.

Maybe it should be something like...
* Additional copies of these cards are in the Introductory Two-Player Sets.
** These cards are Not in the Rivals set.

Hi Tav

I just added a complete deck list of the 120 cards of Introductory Two-Player Set in the index and modified also the phrases that you mentioned in both subsections. I also add a pic of the Italian Introductory Two-Player Set Gift Box in the index, the sources in the Italian subsections, and a close up pic of the English Gift Box in the index.
