Alliances Print Run Info

Post by Gravemind123 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:55 pm

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a picture of the uncommon sheet from Alliances, or any other useful information on the distribution of cards in boxes from Alliances? This is just to appease my curiosity about the chances of getting Force of Will(or a few other different cards) in a box.

Thanks for any information on it.

Unless I am very much mistaken, a picture of an uncut uncommon sheet won't help you here, as you're essentially looking for a map of the Alliances uncommons, which you won't get from the uncut sheet. I don't recall ever seeing a map of Alliances, but unless you buy Alliances in cases, there is no guarantee you'll definitely get a FoW in a box, same way as you aren't guaranteed any given rare in a couple of m10 boxes.

The last box of Alliances I opened I pulled FOUR FoW. FoW was uncommon, not rare, and Alliances did have "rares". I believe you get 2 Uncommons per pack, and there are 43 uncommons in the entire set. 45 packs per box... you do the math.

I copied over part of a post I previously made elsewhere.
Alliances only had R2s and R6s for for rares (46 R2s, 3 R6s to give a 110-card sheet, no R1s etc) and the same for uncommons (40 U2s, 5 U6s), with 3 uncommon sheets for each rare sheet. Thus, U2 = R6. FoW is a U2. Assuming all the booster packs contain average expected numbers of FoWs,

45 x 3 = 135 uncommons per box.
Number of FoWs per sheet = 2
Average number of FoWs per box = 135 / 110 * 2 = 2.455
@ Tim: I think part of why the OP wanted the shot of an uncut sheet was because he might have thought that the placement of FoWs on the sheets could result in certain boxes having 4 of them if say FoWs were placed next to each other and with each box having 135 uncommons (more than 1 sheet), fell into the same box.

It's actually the uncommon distribution that is required in this case. And I've never tried to figure out the distribution before.

Alliances uncommon sheet is ten columns by eleven rows. Force of Will appears twice, once in column one row four, and once in column eight row five.

Thanks for all the info and I would be interested to see a pic of the Alliances sheet as well.
