New Token/Life counter card distribution program in Japan

Post by macone » Sat Dec 02, 2006 2:22 pm

Hi,

Today a new token/life counter cards distribution program announced by TakaraTomy.
http://mtg.takaratomy.co.jp/product/tsp ... index.html

Buying four Japanese packs you can get a token/life counter card.

The front side is token, it is nine kinds.
The back side is life counter, it is three kinds.

Tomorrow I'll be able to get a set of them and put their scans here. :-)

I, along with probably most of the collectors, are wondering how I can get some tokens.

Seems like distribution will be similar to last year - buy some booters, get a card.
The token art is the same as the Magic Online art. It's cool though.

Hi Members.
As,I received mine(Big Thanks to Macone ;-) ) I just wanted to say that they do not have the size of Normal MTG Cards. As,I protect any cards from my Collection,I wanted to know if someone know about protective sleeves that are bigger than Normal ones that you could find in the Market?
Same question, for Binders pages. Thanks for any input.

Alexis: I know other games have cards bigger than M:TG. I believe Yugi-oh might be the game. Sleeve manufacturers are making sleeves for the bigger cards. Don't quote me on what the game is exactly, I just know they do exist. Not saying these new cards will fit into the sleeves, but it might be worth a shot.

Alexis: Email whomever you are buying from. Ask specifically if they carry the sleeves bigger than the 'normal' ones used for M:TG. I know these do exist for sure, I am just sure of the exact game they are used for, or what colors may be available for them.

For the record: The new token / life cards measure 9.3 cm in length and 6.7 cm in width. This equals about 3.66 inches by 2.64 inches.

Does somebody know how exactly the old MPS lands have been distributed so far and whether the distribution of the new ones differs? In essence: Who is when given how many copies of which card under which conditions?

Hi Ralph.
Macone did answer to this long time ago:
These are Japanese Promotional basic lands distributed as the prize of
FNM/ArenaLeague/draft and so on.

Ralph: Thanks for the new token sizes.

Alexis: Mistake on my part. Yu-Gi_oh sleeves are smaller than M:TG ones. Armed with the proper size, I sought out sleeves that may work. Ultra Pro carries a line of clear sleeves for vintage cards, ie sports cards from the 60s and 70s. Here is a link:

http://www.the2buds.com/suslvint.htm

These sleeves are sized 2 3/4" X 3 15/16". They might do the trick. If the new tokens are 2.64" wide, then you are looking at only about .11" of wiggle room (4.3 mm). The height of the tokens is 3.66" and the sleevs are 3.9375" tall. This leaves a full .2775 inch lip (7mm).

These are the closest size I could find. There are no exact ones Ultra-Pro makes for these.
