Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
I have seen very good fake foils done this way. There was a guy a few years ago selling foil Gaea's Cradles, Avatars, Bolts, Quarries and Stroke of Genius. I did buy one because of the fakes page I do. The printing was not quite as thick (?) as on a normal card, it seems like a light strike sort of thing, and there were verticle lines through the ink, but other than that they were flawless. I suspect they were fake because he seemed to have an endless supply of them. I asked him if he'd be able to sell me 50 of each, and he said yes. That made me really suspect, and he was selling a set of all 5 for about half what the going price at the time was.
I suppose they could of been real, and he just had a really really good hook-up, but I doubt it.

Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
that's interesting, wonder how he made em. Maybe he worked for WOTC and got all the crummy printings or something.
Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
same seller, offering another foil filler.
don't really trust it anymore.

Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
I'm a bit confused. Are you saying that he had fake foil bolts, quarrys, cradles, etc, INSTEAD of real foil ones, or are you saying that they were fake because they are foil.l0qii wrote:I have seen very good fake foils done this way. In the latter case, (just covering all my bases here), they most certainly made foils of those cards. In the more likely (yet weird) former case, trust me, it's not uncommon for people with WotC 'connections' to have a huge supply of those cards, which, in the end, is what caused their value to drop like a rock. I have seen boxes of these cards at cons before.
WotC has a history of being about as water-tight as a sieve with regards to their promo cards. I still remember a WotC employee at the Chicago Comic-con many years ago with a 100 count box full of mana crypts (a very valuable card at the time), trading for every card in sight with them.

Since,I start this Topic,I decide to contact the Seller,Jason, and I send him a copy of this Post.He has between 30 and 40 Extras of that Foil Filler Card, and he's sure of their authenticity,I decide to buy 2 From him
to offer one to Eric(Erl00) ;) and he said to me that if I was unhappy with the cards,I will get Full refund. Now,
I hope, that he will come on this forum, and provides himself explanations, but apparently he has very good contacts with WOTC former employees.
Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
No, I know there were real ones made. I question the autehnticity of his because of the quantity he had, how cheap he was selling them at the time, and the fact that they didn't look quite the same as the real deal. Either they didn't pass QC and he got them from "the trash" at WOTC or they were fake.gryfalia wrote:

As soon as I will received the Card,I will make comparison with the Fake Foil Filler Card, that a Member
of this Forum offers me long time ago. Then,I hope that
the Seller will provide answers, since I contact him about my topic,I think it was fair. Now,if I send the Card to you will you be able to prove if it's a Fake or not,I believe it's very easy to find out with the right equipment and,I think you are the perfect specialist to answer that particular point ;)

maybe you can make a .avi of it(if its real atleast)
Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
I have been told by a very trustworthy source that foil filler cards exist. In fact, this website has already had an image of this card for quite some time: http://www.magiclibrary.net/rarities/fi ... e-foil.jpg. As always, the scan shows no reflections.

Between the scan of the Foil Filler Card on Magic Rarities
and the Scan of the Auction on Ebay, there's a Huge Difference. One is totally clean ,the other Full of spots and lines ???
Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
the one on this site is a scan , so the light came perfectly from belowdragsamou wrote:

the one on ebay is a photo, so the light is just a little off showing lines.(and its also possible its a fake)
the best way is an .avi, like on the metal fork.
scan hardly shows anything while the .avi show everything
Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
I wouldn't say I'm able to prove 100% whether it's real or not, especially since I've never seen a real one to begin with, but I can always give my opinion. My point was that it is possible to remove the face of a foil without ruining the back, and that I have seen.dragsamou wrote:

I believe the only way to know if it's a Real one will be through an analysis to see if any chemical(Acetone or others)has been added to the card, and I'm sure that a
Professional Microscope will be able to tell if any manipulation has occured onto the Card.Maybe some members have others ideas of how to proove the 100%authenticity of a Foil Card in a more easy way.
Re: A GOOD RIP-OFF and 3 FOOLS
Hi Members.
This is the answer from The Seller. To my opinion Mystery is solved.THANKS JASON :)
I do not know anything about applying chemicals to foil cards. The ones I have are from when there is a 'drop' card on a Foil sheet. A drop card is when there is a spot on the sheet that does not get assigned art. This sometimes happens as a mistake, or sometimes it just happens. If for example, they are printing 175 foils on a sheet with 176 spots.
