Foiled lands with no pic aside from mana symbol?

Post by Fr0 » Wed Feb 11, 2004 1:50 pm

Hello all!

My first post here, though I have visited many times.
Curious if anyone has any of these.. or any foiled lands that have a picture of the mana symbol, but no picture?

Thanks.

hello and welcome.
This is a fake one.

Anybody can do this kind of trick.

Just take some tape, acetone and cuetips.

There has been several discussions like this on this board.

Yeap, I spotted it too. Are we sure it's fake? Is it feasible to isolate the Blue Mana symbol like this?

Hey guys;

Right on, I just wanted to know what the hell happened to them :)

I remember seeing one one sideboard.com during a tournament in the Mercadian Block.. and it looked cool.
Now I know how they are created.

Thanks for the replies.

sylvanstu...

people sell these knowing they are fakes, probably 90% of the time or more. People all over the place try to make money w/out honest work. Nothing you can do. If eBay 'yells' at them (which is all they can really do) the seller can go "oops i thought it was really a misprint, im sorry".

If you could have a count of how many fake/scam/ripoff/lying auctions a day there are, you would  be disgusted. :-/

Just be a safe buyer.. all you can do. :-/

These are the same style of people who try to whore off their wares via repacks.  I can guess how many times I have seen a 10 lot auction for a 1 in 10 chance of winning a Black Lotus.  I am all someone has to do is shill bid one of them pretty high up and then even if you win all other 9, someone can go darn! must have been in that 10th lot!  Like Dylan said, some people just want for without doing anything and could care less how they get it.  Dylan also made good points about eBay not really having good ground to challenge auctions like this.  All of these fall into the gray area of life and these sellers have made sure to give themselves wiggle room out.

Don't forget that even on 'bad' auctions, eBay is snagging a commission ;)

I doubt in the way of money that they are very 'motivated' to make sellers be nice and honest ;)

Obviously.. on the other side eBay wants to not let all hell break loose and have everyone selling things they don't own. But also remember, that there is a lot more that they could do, but don't.

I'm a new seller on ebay...but I have seen many fake auctions like this already...and not MTG only...I don't know why the buyers can believe them...:-/

Abou the repack...I think everyone want to buy the Black Lotus for 10$...but I think no one can do it... ;)

one of our members has had some success with repack auctions.  for $20 dollars, they got a mox sapphire, as described here:

Bob once said that three FVF's (final fee value, whatever that means, heh) would get someone NARU'd.  is that the only circumstance, or are there others?

i ask, 'cause i have found, on occasion, that some people who left me positive feedback were NARU'd, for a short time, and then they were made a registered user, again.  i don't know what, exactly, that means, but since then, i've always viewed NARU'd members of ebay, with lots of feedback, to be only temporarily NARU'd.

of course, that view is based on what little i know about what it means to be NARU'd, heh.
