Any reason, in particular, why you're not, through the ACP, enabling "Enable avatar uploading" and setting the "Maximum Avatar Dimensions" to 100x100?

Yes. I do not wish to allow anybody to upload anything to my server. With all these spammers around, this is not an option for me.
