uploading avatars

I see where you can put an internet address to get an avatar from, however, I have some on my computer and want to use those.  Please enlighten me.  Thanks group.

Either Ralph is willing to host them for you, or you need to have webspace somewhere to host them yourself.  The advantage to the latter is the ability to control and update your avatar without having to go through Ralph.  There are free web hosting sites, but many prevent direct linking and/or have bandwidth limitations for a given month.  If I had to guess, you do not have webspace (otherwise you would not be asking this question), so Ralph's host offer may be your best bet.
