Re: new look forum
you wish! everyone knows I'm going to be the mod.
Thank you. Â I shall endeavor to be an asset in maintaining this position for as long as I can. Â There may be some initial confusion as I get used to the new layout, but it is well designed, and should be interesting to see how it works in the upcoming weeks.
Take care. Â [smiley=smartass.gif]
I can't believe I ate the whole thing

You have seniority. I have experience.
This should be an entertaining interview process.

Re: new look forum
i'm computer illiterate so i guess i'm out of the running plus Ralph said you couldn't be in a dispute with anyone on the website so that knocks me out. I bet you have to use punctuation also and i'm learning that so some of you who have run out of breath reading my posts can breath easier. lol

Congratulations on your new skills ;) , though actually I enjoyed reading some of your old-type 44-consecutive-words Posts too [smiley=laugh.gif]

Re: new look forum
Is it possible we have too many topics now? I don't know where to look to see where the juiciest threads are anymore. It looks like posting is way down, but it might just be that the posts are spread out now...

Re: new look forum
bah, lost my post... i'll recap.
Take my opinion with half a grain of salt since I'm new, so I'm just trying to give feedback. The site is great whether you tweak further or not.
I agree there's too many categories now, but mostly because the Archive and Forum(Old) are on the front page with the current stuff.
If you just went to Website/Info/Trading/Off-topic and perhaps had the Archive/Forum old posts as something you can explode/open up, I think that would be better.
The forum's still in transition I think Ralph implied, so maybe he's in the process of moving all those old posts away from the main index, I don't know.

Re: new look forum
As merfolkguy guessed correctly, the four old forum categories will vanish once all threads in there will have been reviewed and moved to their final location. The Archive might lose one category as well. Given that no new threads are started in the Archive, I am positive that the remaining 10 categories of the active forum are mandatory to cover topics appropriately.

Re: new look forum
i don't think there is such a thing as too many categories. if there were, then forums such as the following wouldn't be doing very well, yet they are:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php
http://club.cdfreaks.com/
http://forum.doom9.org/
etc.
i will say that something about the categories does bug me, but it isn't the number of them. i think it's that they're too close together - that there are too few forums per each category. i mean, a category for one forum seems hardly justified. is a category for just two forums? well, i suppose it's more justified, but it isn't quite as justified as a category with 3+.
some organization can be nice - too much organization can be a bit of a turn off.
