How much for an uncut sheet from urza saga

Post by stichadou » Fri Dec 08, 2006 9:28 am

Hi everybody,

I won an uncut sheet from urza saga during the Worlds. I talked to dragsamou to know the price of this kind of product.

He doesn't give me a precise price because he doesn't find a similar product.

So, i'd like to have different opinions concerning this uncut sheet.

For information, the back of the sheet is real card and not artist proof.

Thank you for your help.

PS: May I miscut the sheet to have a unique miscut Y-Will? :-)

I assume from your Y Will question that it is a rare sheet?

Cutting a sheet to yield perfect cards is not an easy thing to do. Unless it is done professionally the cards look very bad. Even professionals will have a bit of a tough time setting up to cut a single sheet, unless they have worked with sheets of the right size and cards of the right size.

If you can find someone to do the cutting, it can be your option as to whether you want the cards miscut or not. But the job will cost you at least $100, and probably much more unless you know someone in the industry.

I have a contact in this industry but i'm waiting for this opinion about the price of this work.

I prefer to sell this sheet but if you have "classical cards" not like dragsamou folders, ce can maybe find an agreement.

I discourage everybody to cut his uncut sheet. Not only is it not worth the money (you either have to pay much money for having it cut professionally or you may end up with worthless cards), but it is also the destruction of an ultra-rare collectible item.

Is there someone that can give me approximative price for this ultra rare collectible item? :-)

Rare sheets always exceed $100. Urza's Saga was a particularly popular set, and I don't remember seeing any copies of that uncut sheet offered.

Pricing any uncut sheet is difficult. There aren't many active collectors. It seems that English sheets go for more than other languages, although I haven't seen many non-English sheets offered. I have a number of uncut sheets, but got all of them inexpensively on eBay. If you were to offer it there, you might get a great price or a horrible one. As an example, an uncut Arena promo sheet - perhaps the most available - is listed at Troll & Toad for $299, although they currently have none. These sheets usually sell for ~ $120 to $150 on eBay, but I have seen end them at $80 and at $200.

Since the sheet is not that plentiful, I would guess that you could get $200 if you wanted to sell it fast, and perhaps as high as $300 - $350 if you were extremely patient. If you have formal documentation of the sheet as a tournament award, and perhaps a history of the sheet (Was it provided by Wizards? If not, how did it end up being an award?) you might push up the price. Good stories always help pieces of art.
