Post by yvel » Sat Mar 17, 2007 1:46 pm

Hi all,

i have 2 cards signed from Susan Van Camp ... The Autograph is different.
Both are from the artist or one of them is a fake ?
I didn't find a picture of her sign ...

What do you think about it ?

All the ones I've seen look like the one on the right.

Here's a somewhat cleaned up version of the above two sigs. Maybe this'll help.

Got van Camps autograph 11 years ago also on some FE cards. They were on the same spot as the left one but mine were complete and not just the initials.
Don't have the cards anymore so can't provide scans.

My idea is that both auto's are real but that there is just some time between both signings and her autograph has changed slightly since.

RE: the two cards that i sent you yvel, I got them autographed at wondercon in san francisco a couple of years ago. so the card on the left is definately real.

i can post scans of my other van camp signatures - whriling dervish, faeire willow, sea sprite...big name cards =)

I've met her several times at conventions over the years and her signature has definitely changed. I believe the last time I got cards signed they looked like the one on the right, but i do have several that look like the one on the left. It is most likely they're both real - artist signatures generally slightly devalue cards, and i don't know that a forgery of a signature on a fallen empires common would be worth it to any counterfeiter.

She is at Gencon every year and every year I get cards signed by her. All the cards I have signed look like the card on the left. Same look and same position on the card.

Many artists have the "person who brought me one or two cards" signature and the "person who brought me a stack of 100 cards" signature, with the first usually being a nicer sig :)

I've both had her signatures, plus signed artwork prints (non-magic related). They both look familiar. I will check at home just to make sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if both were completely legit.
