English Ice Age Pyroclasm & Dance of the Dead, Alpha cor

Post by GrosBlob » Thu Aug 10, 2006 5:11 pm

Hi,

I've got two English Ice Age cards (Pyroclasm and Dance of the Dead) which have Alpha corners (well, corners cut like corners on Alpha cards).

I looked here and on ebay but didn't really find anything.

Is it a common misprint ? Are they worth anything, besides their value as somewhat playable cards ?

Thanks !

Regards,
Xavier

I only know that this happend to 4th edtion.
I have lots of them but never heard of any Ice Age cards that have this defect.
I'd be interested in them.

It would be the first time I hear of this in Ice Age.

However I have to point out some italian guys have started to "round" the corners on normal cards to make them Alpha-cut. Normally they'd do this to the usual WB cards to grab some extra dollars, but maybe some idiot started doing so to other sets >:-(

I advise you to place it against a real Alpha card and make absolutely sure the edges fit perfectly.

The problem with comparingto real Alpha cards if is the corners on Alpha are not all the same. The quality control on them was, ahem, not so good.:-)

But the issue of clipping the corners is exactly why I never believe "alpha cut misprints". They have been made forever.

Best regards,

The edges are cut like Alpha corners, that's for sure.

Concerning the comment about the card possibly cut by someone, I don't think so. I can't of course guarantee it, but these cards come from a guy's collection and they were in his unused stack of commons/uncommons. I might even have more than these two, as I first took them out because they're playable cards, not because I saw their edges.

I'll post scans of them next to Alpha cards when I get my broken computer back.
