I meant with modern plates/printers. Of course I've heard of typesetting :)

I have a "green" blessed wine

and can add another card with two different "neighbours" to the list. One of my illusionary walls has a black card at the top, the other a red. A very small red line, but quite visible.

There were recently several ebay auctions (as far as I remember all from the Masques Block) with two miscut cards that had different cards next to them.

And I just found a Glade Gnarr with a white top card in my binder. The Dwarven Landslide from Endes scan has a Glade Gnarr at the bottom. (I think we both bought some of the recent miscuts I mentioned ;-) )

just got back from vacation to discover this interesting thread. as an uncut sheet collector this is either exciting or disturbing. it appears that it may be difficult to know when a complete set of uncut sheets is complete.

unfortunately, i do not own an ice age common sheet to contribute this discussion but if anyone has uncut sheets that they would like to compare, i have the following:

fallen empires
homelands
chronicles
alliances
spanish alliances
portal (uncommon)
portuguese 4th
revised
antiquities
tempest (common)
mirage (common)
asian 5th (common) - cat backs
arena

That collection of uncut sheets is quite impressive.

Unfortunately I own none but have several miscuts from the sets you mention which could be used for comparison.

That way we might verify whether all sheets have two versions (i.e. about 50% of my cards being similarly arranged to yours and 50% not) or if this applies only to some sets.

That AQ miscut has to be the best miscut card ever (at least of ones that I've seen).

Indeed this kind of miscut is pretty rare in my experience.

The only other cases of 4 cards showing I'm aware of are from French FBB:

1) From Fvzappa's collection (I traded it to him incidentally, then he had it signed):
http://fvzappa.photosite.com/july042005/

2) These 2 connecting ones on Ebay:

(at what I consider a rather insane price though)

Unfortunately my AQ one is quite worn, especially on the edges and back. I believe its first owner must have been allowed to play it in casual games, maybe using it as any of the cards showing (Transmute Artifact, Mightstone, Ivory Tower), thus introducing split cards :-D I'll still cling onto it though, along with some of my more affectionate misprints.

Regarding Carta Mundi print runs I _think_ that it is correct to assume that plates wear out and new ones have to be made. I have no clue about the whole printing proces but I can logically assume this because of the following:

I bought two booster boxes after the end of Ice Age's printrun, where there are no uncommons in the boosters at all. I am happy to say that the missing uncommons were replaced with rares. :-) I still have about a full box of them (sealed boosters) if anyone doesn't believe me.

Assuming its expensive to make new plates, I would guess that Carta Mundi didn't feel that it was cost-effective to create another uncommon plate and simply 'moved' some spare rare sheets into the uncommon sorter (or whatever they use). However, me buying those boxes so late doesn't necessarily mean that they were, in fact, from the end of the printrun.

In any case, it doesn't seem likely to me that this is a mere sorting error. ALL boosters in the boxes (so far) had this. Not an uncommon in sight. Its much more likely that at the end of the printrun they ran out of uncommon sheets. To create sheets from a plate is relatively easy, so to me its not likely that they didn't print more uncommon sheets. When the plate wears out in such an extend that a new one must be made, all the sudden it becomes very plausable that this is what happened.

***

Also I have a standard misprint at home from a 1-card-per-sheet card. I forgot what card, heck, what set (but older than Ice Age). This means that its likely that there were in fact two different common sheets. I will try to find it, scan it and post it here. *ouch* for uncut sheet collectors, as they now seem to have less of a collection (percentage-wise at least).

Well by comparing the uncut sheets with one another, and also looking at all the miscuts, this should 10% prove that there have to be different sheets. Possibly a new one was set per print run, or sheets wore out, or whatever. The point is there are more than one sheet possibly. As mahidishian pointed out, this is exciting/problematic for his collection.

Why only 10% ?

I guess it should be 100% by now (typo probably?)

Listed as C1:

Confirmed:
Chronicles - Urza's Power Plant (colums)

Suspect:
Fourth Edition - Durkwood Boars / Sisters of the Flame / Marsh Gas
