Hmmm...missed this post somehow from before. Taking a look at the scans up close, I found something very interesting. The blackness on the card has some distinct strokes in various angles in it, suggesting it has been 'colored' in some fashion. This stroking is remnant of filtered implements like markers. There are color distinctions on the card that do not coincide with a card layout. For example, there is a solid, streak-free darker box above the foil logo midway left on the card. You can distinctly see stroking to the right and blow this darker box. This card was created by a person and not machined as the inking would not be so poorly done.

Summary = Fake misprint

All of the scans were taken with the card in a penny sleeve. Could that explain the oddities?

Well there are the 600 dpi scans further down the page that arent sleeved.

fvzappa said he cleaned the scanner, but didn't say whether it was in a sleeve or not for those scans. There seems to be darker area around the card that looks like a sleeve.

It was in a sleeve. I have a difficult time getting a good clean scan, esp. on something solid black.
