In Italy business as usual. In Greece maybe not, as they are facing a drastic economic downturn

I am from Spain and spent this summer holiday in Athens. At that time, in the streets, from the point of view of a tourist, it seemed everything like normal, although there were some riots and things like that, but nothing different from what we've been suffering in Spain. Can say what's at gubernamental level...

G Pap steps down, Bunga Bunga Berlusconi to follow

Merkel and Sarkozy are now talking about potential exit strategies from the euro currency (but not the EU)

Whats the situation like in Europe? If you are from one of the affected nations, I'd like to hear your stance on whether or not you would prefer to stick with the Euro currency or go back to the pre-maastricht treaty currency.

Personally, I think the Euro Zone was great in theory, especially when you have really strong economies contributing to the currency. But, once you get a whole bunch of weaker economies, plus a huge recession, the wheels fall off the bus.

Having said that, I think it's possible for the Euro to survive, but you'll have to cut some people loose, which probably won't end well....

From what I've read and videos I have watched from the IMF, it seems as though they should have voted out Greece. The Greek economy would have tanked but it would have recovered in 2-4 years, instead everyone is going down with the ship. My understanding, Italy is just as bad if not worse than Greece, Berl stepping down is a good step but may be too late.
