Land Card Test Prints

Maybe old news for the more senior collectors on this forum, but as a collector of land cards I was delighted to obtain a bunch of test prints. So I thought I share them here:

The actual proofs are 5.1/2x7.3/8, dated September 24, 2002, and printed on white letter-sized paper. What I find particularly intriguing are the names the land cards had during production.

Great, love it, esp. how they gave basics new names.

Very Cool, Congratulations BillBo!
It would be quite fun to play with these like real cards.

Is "Test Print" the correct terminology for something printed in office on a regular printer?
What is it that would be being tested?
What does everyone think?

Speculation: Maybe it's made for design approval to be discussed in a meeting or something?

Yeah, you're probably right; it occurred to me later that it might be misleading. If I'd make the post today, I'd probably call them "proofs" b/c that is much closer to what they are.

I was planning to shrink them and give them out to local EDH players. If I ever do, I can send you copies ;-).

Do you have more info of from where yours comes from as they are similar to the ones that I've posted a link ?

My source got them from a friend who at the time was a WotC employee. The trustworthiness of my source (I never met them in person) was vetted by someone who is beyond reproach. Let me see whether I can find out more.

Sounds fun! I'd put them in a cube to surprise people when they're drafting it. :-D
