Your Biggest YOLO MTG Purchase
What is something you bought when you knew you shouldn't, but said "screw it" and bought it anyway?

Probably my next purchase!
I have managed to be into Magic since Fallen Empires and in all that time I have never owned or even held any of the Power 9.
I mean, I did by a sealed Summer booster, for probably the same amount of money as every other Magic Purchase I have ever made combined, but I always saw that as an investment, not as a YOLO thing.
I did decide to put all my collections into decent binders and that is not exactly necessary but it is something I thought, "Stuff it, I am going to do it anyway."

When I purchased my PSA 10 Alpha Black Lotus, I had just gotten a new job after being unemployed for 8 months! So I certainly didn't have the money on hand to afford it. But to make it even worse, as soon as I did that a small collection of other PSA Alphas came up for sale with lots of 10s, and I bought that too! I was paying off those back to back purchases for a while.

Don't go down that path Alexis, even though it leads to vast pools of magic cards it will cost you more than you expect. Americans live on credit and it kills us every day.dragsamou wrote:Ben

My biggest carpe diem moment with magic cards was probably buying a Legends box in 2010 for ~$2k. I had been saving for a few months and I had been thinking of getting myself some minorly expensive thing (like a dual land or something), and then I came across the most pristine box and just couldn't help myself. I really wasn't making enough to justify it, since I didn't have much saved, but how many opportunities was I going to get? No regrets, I sleep better at night knowing I have that in my safety deposit box.

I thought I was bad for buying a box of Revised a couple of years ago for $700. The one I bought before that was $150, but it was when it first came out.
I can't believe the current Buy-it-now prices being asked for these, even if every booster had a duel land in it you would struggle to make it worthwhile.
Legends would be nice, I see them every now and then.

Hell Yes...Was dreaming to own one when I was living in California, but at that time, I didn't have a Driving License, my American step family went "You don't know how to driveeeeeeeeeeeeee ????" I try my best to explain, how expensive and hard it is to get a driving license in Paris, but they still looked at me as An Alien And to finish, I didn't have a job at that timemystical_tutor wrote:My Corvette.
PS: Does your Corvette has a MTG Logo at least, cause subject is about "Your Biggest YOLO MTG Purchase"...You're such a Rebel Gary héhé

In fact, my thinking was more about that:
"What is something you didn't bought when you knew you should, but said "Forget it" and didn't bought it anyway?. The list is long, but I have a real hard time answering the primary question of Ben, because I always bought everything I wanted no matter what...Going back to now héhé
They always seem WAY overpriced yet they keep going up...I thought I was bad for buying a box of Revised a couple of years ago for $700.
I bought some BB German a few years ago and no Tundra, Underground... I got them for cheap (considering) and still not worth it. Unless there's some amazing draft value Revised is simply to buy, sit on, then flip when the prices inexplicably rise again...
