Checklist

Post by AzureWinter » Sun Feb 22, 2009 11:41 pm

Does anyone know where i can make a good checklist of magic sets?
I tried to use the Gatherer but cards that has been reprinted seem to get messed up.

For example, I tried to make a checklist for 9th edition and i get some cards as "tenth edition" and the number is not following with 9th edition.
Why does it do this?

The Gatherer always lists the most resent printing of a card, regardless of which set you are searching.

For accurate checklists use http://magiccards.info/search.html
Choose the set, and select "checklist" at the bottom of the form.

For several years I have been building an Access data base of MTG cards. I can send you a list (spoiler or check list) of any set up to 8th edition (after the change in 8th I stopped collecting all cards and only have the basic editions sets after Scurge). I have 9th--after a couple hours of correcting the one I got from the gatherer.

Let me know if any of this would be of value to you.

card list

Which info's do you need in the shecklist in xls but could make txt's out of them, I made them myself because of the same problem :-) But in my lists I erased some of the info's that are included (like card number) because I don't need them.

Ya, I forgot to mention that if you don't use Access I can print them out in .txt format. I have combined the spoiler and the checklist fot the sake of my data base but can exclude whatever you don't need.

Just let me know what set you want and what info you want in that set.

two questions:

How do you want me to send the lists? PM me an email address might work best and I will send you a .txt file. Or, I can PM you one list per PM probably.

Present fields in the WotC checklist are:

Name, Artist, Color, Rarity and Set.

Is that all you need? I can add other fields like text, mana, etc.

The best thing to do id to put all checklist in a same rar or zip file and to upload it. It should be great.

Is there a way to upload them to this site? If so, please point me to the instructions or tell me how to do it in "computer challenged" language.

What fields should be included? My database has the following fields in it and 14095 records. I'm sure that most folks would not be interested in all that. My use of Excel is somewhat limited but I would be willing to upload .txt files of those sets that I have. Reminding yall that I only have a few sets after 8th Edition.

Set
Name
Color (I check the seperate colors on M colored cards)
White
Blue
Black
Red
Green
Supertype
Type
Subtype
Rarity
Cost
P
T
Test
Artist
Art-2
SN (the number on the bottom of the card if it is numeric only)
Col (is this card in my collection)
Upgrade
Foil
Play (how many are in my playset)
Trade
AP
AP-NS (for unsigned artist proofs)
Sign (regular card signed by artist)
Version
Italian
German
French
Spanish
Portugese
Korean
Chinese-T
Chinese-S
Japaniese
Russian
Alt Art
Original

So Im in middle of making 1 Excel file that contains all the sets.
It's a checklist for each set but there are few sets I have no clue how the card looks like so I'm not sure if I should make it.

Renaissance
Anthologies
Deckmasters
Battle Royal

Do all of these have special symbol to distinguish that they are from that set? Or is some just a regular magic card from different set put together?

Also, is these a way to tell a difference in Starter 1999 and 2000

I also want to know if anyone have a checklist for Promos, Vanguard.

And does anyone have checklist for
Future sight
Lowryn Block
Shadowmoor Block

Only Deckmaster's has its own unique expansion symbol of the above 4 sets.

1999 has a star symbol, 2000 does not.
