Collector's Edition II
**This originally started in the oversized Mox Jet post but I wanted to seperate it to see what you guys think.
I wonder where WoTC is going with these(Oversized alternate art Power 9 cards). That seems like an awful lot of time and energy to commission an art for just a poster card. Does anyone think that they'll ever release them again in a non-tournament viable Collector's Edition II with square corners, gold borders, alternate art, etc. so as to not infringe upon the reserved list?
A set of CE II would be cool for people to get playable versions of these cards for casual/proxy purposes.
If you were to make a Collector's Edition II boxed set with alternate art, square corners and gold borders on the back, what would you put in it?
"Collector's Edition II: 300 renowned spells from across the Magic: The Gathering Multiverse. With new artwork!"
Here are the obvious ones:
1-7. 7 SoLoMoxen
8-17. 10 original Dual Lands
18. Moat
19. Abyss
20. Mana Drain
21. Mana Crypt
22. Juzam Djinn
23. Time Walk
24. Timetwister
25. Ancestral Recall
26. Bazaar of Baghdad
27. Mishra's Workshop
28. Library of Alexandria
29. Maze of Ith
30. Singing Tree
31. Ali from Cairo
32. Drop of Honey
33. Jester's Cap
34.
time for you to provide feedback so we can get this up to 300!!!

Include crap? Why yes we can, but more along the lines of cards like Balduvian Horde or Grinning Demon...but the Albatross?!?!? What is that renowned for?bigfatkitty wrote:Giant Albatross
(c'mon...you'll need some crap cards in the set too.)
I guess we should narrow this selection to really good cards(power obv.), really rare playable cards that have made an impact somewhere(i.e. reset), and cards that received positive hype somewhere along the line when they were released (like the aforementioned Juzam wannabe's).
Its like picking an all star team consisting of cards from Magic's history. Think of a set that is just for the collector base who wouldn't have access to these for the most part but wouldn't mind coming across them to have fun with.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the so-called collector's edition... I was burned by an ebayer way back when, who clipped the corners. Bastards. So if they ever do this again I hope they put a symbol on the front side as well so this cannot be easily done again.
And if they ever were to do this as a part 2, I think it'd be foolish to include cards that are in part 1.
I think a few worthwhile cards, that are not in Beta/ CE are:
Hammer of Bogarden
Library of Alexandria
Kird Ape
Juzam Djinn
Maze of Ith
Blood Moon
Ball Lightning
Tolarian Academy
Bazaar of Baghdad
Candelabra of Townos
Mishra's Factory
Strip Mine
Urza's Mine
Mishra's Workshop
Acid Rain
Chain Lightning
Land Tax
Nether Void
Underworld Dreams
Goblin Grenade
Hymn To Tourach
Many others, of course... those above mostly came to me as I breezed through my Arabian- Fallen Empires set binders...

Capsize
When I played, the Capsize was in mono blue one of the most played cards, common but fantastic IMO, still one of my favourites
