The 'chaosdjinn is an idiot...' Broodmate Dragon Fund

This actually started over in the News forum, but I'm going to put this out there as a goof. It would be funny if this could actually come to fruition!!!

Here's my response(with some minor changes) to Knutsen's Walmart promo request:
===============================================

I got burnt real bad on the Broodmate Dragon promo. Picked up a beat up copy($82) 2 years ago and then a mint copy($194) exactly 1 week before it was released en masse last year (2+ years after it originally surfaced).

M*#%^@ F*$@#$!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
{was literally my reaction to seeing them invading eBay by the second}

But I digress. So with all manner of grieving processes, I had to come to accept that I was, for lack of a better term, an idiot. I thought it was extremely limited in its release. I don't usually have decisions go wrong like this, but this pursuit backfired!!

My goal is to seek out as many as I can to reduce my cost of all of them to @ $5 each. So far I have traded for 2 others...so, in the big picture, as far as broodmate promos go, I'm into them at $69 a piece right now; far above for their going rate 0f $3-5 on eBay now; but, being an idiot, that's what I'm into thaem for right now.

I only need to aquire 226 more copies at less than $4 each to do be able to be near the top end of the current market price of @ $5 each. BAD BEATS. :'-(

If anyone wants to donate/ sell/ trade Wal Mart Broodmate Dragons to The 'chaosdjinn is an idiot and we feel sorry for him for chasing obscure worthless promo broodmate dragons' Fund, please feel free to do so. :-D

===========================================
end of shame-filled plug wondering if this goal could really be attained?!?!?

I'm even going to put a WalMart Broodmate Dragon counter in my sig. :-P

I hope you are not the gentleman who paid $1100.00 for the foil Disenchant back in 2000.

I feel bad for that forum member.

Your story is familiar to me. In my case, the price was 250€ (yep), and fortunately, the card was just reserved a couple of weeks before it flooded Ebay. So I did not pay for it.

So now, I am quite reluctant to buy an unreleased promo...

I have the other problem, someone offered me a mint unlimited Black Lotus for £150 but I turned them down because I thought it was too expensive. (It was at the time!)

The Channel Fireball store has 6 copies in SP condition for $2.69ea, and 15 copies in NM-M condition for $2.99ea.

Just thought I'd mention it since they are below your targeted avg/card.

Tell me if I got it right : you intend to buy tons of these so as to raise the market price in the end ?

Is this card played in any format ?

No, he simply want to buy tons of these so that, at the end, the average price he paid for one is 5$.... Economically, this is pretty stupid (please don't be offended :) ), but I find it fun, and perfectly understand the need to exorcise a fail (I myself paid 90$ for it :-\

Good luck !

But then the loss is even greater...

that's why I said it economically stupid :-D

But at the end, taking one Broodmate, you will be able to say :"No no sir, I'm not one of these guys who overpaid this beauty. I paid it 5$"

The title of the thread speaks for itself...

No offense, chaosdjinn...
