Ah, you ended up with Sammy! Pretty sure I used to own him. I sold off 13/26 of those 4E Albinos from 97-01 (maybe I sold one or two to euchre or lesavre in 02, would have to ask them) for prices ranging from 50 (the first one, sigh) to 150. Most were in the 100-125 range - but that was close to 10 ...

I haven't seen much in the way of odd Alpha stuff. I had a Black Knight once upon a time that was double-struck, I think, but I don't know what happened to it. I still have a Howl from Beyond with an odd dark patch over the text in the title - I'll post a pic of it this evening. I have seen other ca...

That card has NO borders (clipped somehow?), though it's been photographed atop a gold (normal-sized, hence way tall and wide) gold card sleeve.

Shipping stuff to Italy

What shipping services are people using from USA to Italy? It's been a while since I sent anything there, but I remember it was a real pain, and that there was great concern about postal misappropriation.

I had one Hurricane at the time, which I held on to until early 2000 and sold for 3700 in Japan. As for the ninjaing.. I promised myself I wouldn't cry!

Hrm. I remember that he had Consult, but I remember him being in possession of the Lich artwork too.. perhaps he was selling it for a friend or something. Ask him about it - I'm almost positive he was connected to that one too. Anyway, yes, I was the guy you remember. From 96-99 I was a (the only?) ...

I have no clue what he wants for the sheet, didn't ask....he knows I deal a lot in the art, so I told him I would ask around on it for him... Worlds was a weird event....both 97 and 98....1998 I bought 4 blue hurricanes from my buddy larry, who he used to work at WOTC. At worlds 97, I passed on 150...

Worlds 98

No kidding? I was at that event, and while I saw several things that I couldn't afford to get/couldn't get prices for/got scooped on (original Lich painting, two Blue Hurricanes and several other Summer cards among them), I didn't get wind of the proof sheet sets. That was so far back, though, I had...

That World Champion sketch is one of only three images of that card that survive from 96 - the painting and the card itself are the others. +1 if you read attentively the last library posts there is surprisingly another exemplar. Library posts? Not sure where those are/what you are referring to, bu...

Worthwhile to grade APs?

I was looking at APs on a large auction site last night and noticed that some were graded. I hadn't been aware that grading companies would do white-backs - I'm not sure they do Magic signatures at all, and most proofs are signed. Have any of you had APs graded? Do you think it's worth doing?

I was unwilling to pay the requested price for the two-sided set (I want to say ~ $5,000) in 2003. The set appeared a couple of times on Ebay. At the time I could have had white-backed sets for under $1,000, but was picking up seemingly rarer uncut sheets - like uncut Vanguards and my Pokemon-backe...

I bought them in 96-97 from a fellow who used to have an ownership stake in the then-dominant Adventures by Mail distributor in the Northeast US. He had them on sale in a retail store he owned in a mall a bit north of Albany, NY for quite some time before I bought them. I keep them in plastic sheath...
