Visions Rules Cards

Index | 1997

The Mirage block introduced a few new creature mechanics which were explained in the Mirage rule book. However, in the Traditional Chinese and Korean languages, Visions was the first set released and therefore no rule books were available.
Therefore special rule cards were inserted into every Visions booster.

TRANSLATION OF THE KOREAN SUPPORT CARD (To be updated)

Flanking: Flanking is an ability that gives an attacking creature an advantage. Whenever a creature without flanking attempts to block a creature with flanking, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
Phasing: Phasing causes a permanent to enter and leave play on its own. When a permanent is phased out, it comes out of play and is set aside as if it were taken out of the game.
All enchantments on the permanent are phased out as well, and all continuous extensions on that permanent and any counters they have are maintained, but only if the permanent is in play for an effect to be applied or any effects applied to it Ended All damage it has is lost, and any effects applied to it at the end of the turn are ignored as it is treated as out of play.
A permanent that is phased out means it comes into phase in play during its controller's next untap phase.
It may or may not return under that player's control each time it is in, as its effect remains in effect every time it is phased out if its control has been permanently transferred to another person.
Every time a permanent is phased out, only every time it would have been tapped, and every tapped phase in it. (In other words, it comes into play tapped rather than untapped and then entered play.)
Any trigger effect that occurs whenever a permanent enters play is ignored. The permanent is phased in without any aftereffects of summoning.
A permanent with phasing is automatically phased out during its controller's untap phase, while other permanents are phased in. It does not phase out during a phased-in turn.
If a token is phased out, it is out of play, so it is completely removed from the game.

TRANSLATION OF THE TRADITIONAL CHINESE SUPPORT CARD (To be updated)

Flanking: Flanking is a power that gives an attacking creature an advantage. When a creature without flanking declares to block an attacker with flanking, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
Phasing: Phasing causes permanents to enter and exit the field periodically. When a permanent phases out, it comes into play and is set aside as if it had been removed from the game.
All enchantments on this permanent will phase out together; all counters on that permanent will also remain on it. Additionally, all effects that require the permanent to be in play or apply to it while the permanent is in play ends immediately.
All damage it takes is removed, and since it is no longer in play, all effects affecting it at the end of the turn are ignored.
If a permanent phases out, it will phase back (that is, come back into play) at the beginning of its controller's next untap phase.
Note that the creature doesn't necessarily come into play under the original controller's control at this point, as the creature may be under some effect that permanently changes its controller when it phased out.
If a permanent was tapped when it phased out, it must also remain tapped when it phased back in (in other words, it came into play tapped and then untapped; comes into play tapped).
Any effects that trigger when a permanent comes into play must be ignored at this time.
Permanents that jump back are not affected by Summoning Disorder. Permanents with phasing automatically phase out at the beginning of their controller's untap phase, and other permanents that have phased out will phase back in.
Phased-in permanents no longer phase out during their phase-in turn. If the token phased out, it would be removed from the game entirely because it was already in play.
Normal mana: In all costs, the mana indicated by the gray circle and the number is the normal mana. If the cost includes normal mana, you can pay the normal mana cost with any color of mana.
Regional and wide-area enchantments: If the card type says "enchantment", it is "wide-area enchantment"; it can only enter the field in your domain, and the effect may affect both parties.
If the card's type states "<target> enchantment (such as biological enchantment)", it is "regional enchantment": it must be placed on a permanent of that type after it enters the battlefield, and has an effect on the card.
