Everybody Check Your "M" Card(s)

Post by alotenor2 » Tue Jul 13, 2004 1:15 am

I have noticed that some (maybe all?)M cards have a very faint ring around the M. The ring goes completely around the top of the M and intersects the bottom of the outside legs. The ring is most noticable if you tilt the card slightly. I have not been able to get it to show up on a scan but it is fairly distinct in this photo from an ebay auction:

The question is: how common is this?

I own 3, & they all just barely show it, certainly not something you notice until you go looking for it. All three seem the same as far as the "amount", for lack of better term, of ring.

It makes sense to have the ring; when Magic's logo was the M there was usually a ring around it with the title of the event on it.

Speaking of "M" cards, does anyone have one for sale/trade?  I have been trying to get one for a very long time.  About 3 weeks ago, I bid on one on eBay, but the reserve (i believe $100) was not met.  It was relisted, and sold for about 125, but I was away, and unable to bid before it ended.  Anyone have a spare one?

I confirm my M Filler also has this faded circle.

I had never noticed it before. You really have to put the card under strong light to see it, but it's certainly there.  :)
