Picked up a Beta Braingeyser yesterday. I'm now only missing ~13 cards for my Beta set! Hooray!

Under normal circumstances I would have used this post for one terrific announcement about the finalization of my beta project but either the Swiss or the American Post office didn't agree...

So, here is my ANTI-Mail-Brag

Got an empty envelope today (ripped open due to stress or opened by force cannot tell) that should have contained the following:

- 1x Signed Beta Bayou NM
- 2x Signed NM Juzam Djinn
- 3x Signed NM Mana Drain
- 1x signed Beta Will-o-the-wisp
- 3x signed UNL Bayou NM
- 3x signed UNL Tundra NM
- 3x signed UNL Tropical Island NM
- 3x signed UNL Tundra NM

and the thing that hurts the most:
around 80 signed cards by some of the most difficult to find artists which took around 1 year to get together...all gone....

I am devastated...I'll have a chat with the guys at the post office tomorrow and the friend sending me the cards does the same on his end but it doesn't look good...

Wish me luck

This story remind me the "Coin story" on USPS. :-\
Good luck, open a case at the post office and even at the police station.

My friend I am at a loss for words. This is as devistating to me almost as if they were my cards. Just makes me sick.

You have my condolences.

My condolences as well ... such a hard loss to take, especially as you get closer to completing your collections.

It is such a scary thing for all mailings, and for International mailings most of all. It has kept me from selling cards and tokens to all but my most trusted friends, and the few really serious collectors like those on this site.

Over the years I have become quite determined about using secure boxes and full insurance, even when the costs of shipping and import duties become excessive. There are some collectibles that are just too valuable and too difficult to replace. It just makes everything so much more difficult, when the items you collect are scattered all over the world.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Marcus! I'm hoping they were insured and turn up soon! :(

Thank you all for the kind words.

I've not lost hope completely but it doesn't look very good.

I'll keep you posted.

This just makes me feel sick, just sick... The nightmare of any collector.

I am truly sorry for the loss and I hope the thieves burn in molten lava slowly.

Don't forget the Lava Sharks, with lazzzer beams of course.

Markus,

I can only offer my sincerest condolences for your loss. Knowing how much time, effort, and money you put into your collecting you must be devastated. I will keep my fingers crossed that somehow, some way this all comes out o.k.

I am really sorry for you. I imagine the worst part is not the money, but the fact that you spent so much time tracking this stuff down and some of it is likely irreplaceable :-( I wish you good luck!

Thanks guys...I informed the post office here in Switzerland and opened an investigation case...Let's hope for the best

I also updated my want list here on Librarities ( http://www.magiclibrarities.net/forum/v ... php?t=7542 )...I highlighted the cards I "miss" the most in bold...Maybe you have a signed version. If so, please let me know.

@mods: I hope this alright with you. Let me know otherwise...
