how did people do at the boston prix?

Post by shaselai1 » Mon Aug 03, 2009 9:58 pm

How did people do around here? I went 2-3 and dropped. I could have gone 4-1 if it werent for mana screw but that's life eh?
I heard of some ridiculous decks like this guy with 3 byes getting 2 garruks (1 foil).
I went with couple of newbie friends(havent played in a few years)... Loved how one of them decided to put his 2nd sleep in the sideboard because "it cost too much and one is enough".... Other friend decided to make a "sanguine bond deck" with 1 angel's mercy, baneslayer, Solemn Offering and lifelink. He put in tempest of light and 3 glorious charges instead his harm, 2 divine verdicts and 2 excommunicates... he told me he had enough removals with his doom blade and 2 pacifisms. I think the 2nd friend's pool couldve def. put him into 2nd day if he made the deck right...

I met Brian at one of the card tables. Maybe met others but dont know their faces... Anyone gone to 2nd day and did well? I wish i was doing the drafts because i am pretty good at drafting (won 1 and split top ). Plus the 5 second rule wouldve been an awesome experience...

I heard of someone getting 2 Baneslayers (1 foil). I picked up 5 Summer lands which I was pretty happy about.

I went 5-2 and then lost and pretty much went trading with Brian all day. I then picked up more misprints and heard from Morgan that Brian picked up a cool stone rain for me :D

The pool was fine I guess. All my friends told me it was just a avg deck.
I pretty much was too tired to do anything after playing in the GP all day and then the PTQ on sunday. Did some last minute trade and went back to the hotel and had a nice 10 hour sleep, as I had to drive all my friends back to Toronto.

cool. My friends had better pool but they couldnt make a decent deck... I played couple of booster drafts and won 1 and split another because we had to leave. The worst part of the weekend was when my two friends insisted to go to a sushi place by walking and we walked ~3 hours aimlessly on saturday - got blisters and my leg hurts like hell... Luck would have it the place we played was a "deadzone" and ate up my fully charged phone(thanks alot verizon guy). On sunday we took a taxi there and found it was closed down..... It was a great experience overall though, I know the next time will be a while since I don't play constructed at all....

What did you pick up the misprints for the guy selling them wanted to much IMO but he might have cut you a deal. I picked up 2 double print FE cards off him and some really nice miscuts.

Actually he's just a local store guy in my area. He wanted to try and sell his stuff to me for awhile ago but i told him it might be better to sell at the GP and if it doesn't, I said I'll take it. I pretty much gave him $100 store credit for it.

Nice pick up then. If I knew you were going to pick it up I would have left the Stone Rain in there which he charged me $5 for.

Nice pick up. I have 2 or 3 Balduvian Conjurers with that same little blotch in the bottom corner.
Always looking for:
Legends Presence of the Master (English or Italian)
Dark Sorrow's Path (English or Italian)
Non-English Contract From Below.
