The sniping topic
I have a confession to make,
on ebay, the thing i hate most are the damned snipers, just in the final seconds, when you are reloading the page, you suddenly see that someone else has outbidded you, and you don't have a single chance to raise your bid...... >:( >:( >:( >:(
Well, everybody probably knows what i'm talking about.
YEsterday, the gotta archangel was ending and i....well,....dunno how to say this, but..............
i sniped it :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWN:IT
AND IT FELT GOOD!!!!!
If there are more people who wants to make confession, i will act as a preacher to listen to you.. ;)

Re: The confession topic
I never snipe, I allways bid high enough to get things I want.
somtimes I bid in the last few seconds to know it will be save.
I am thinking of the right taktik for the Shivan at the moment.
Only thing I know is that he will be very expensive. I hope that the big boys allready have him. Or know that I want it and use theire money for the other cards!
lets hope so.

Re: The confession topic
I ALWAYS snipe. The only time I *don't* bid in the last minute of an auction is when I am going to be away from my computer. But at least I do it in person....

Re: The confession topic
I snipe and could care less who I snipe. If my computer is faster and I can get a bid in to pay more than you...I win. My favorite thing to do if an auction ends during the work day is to preset my pager to alert me a few minutes prior to the auction end. I laugh inside when if I am away from my desk doing something else is to say "I really need to get this" and then stroll back to my desk for an auction win when the pager goes off.

In that case, I congratulate you on your skill. Everytime I try to snipe in under 10 seconds, I miss. (Ebay doesn't understand the concept of "keep me logged in" anymore >:()Me and Software in general are not really good friends  ;)

Re: The confession topic
Yup. I've seen Drag snipping from his computer, and it's quite impressive. Something a la Shaolin monk, with incense, new-age music in the background, and suddenly, *bang* the auction is gone in a flash.
I've learnt a lot from him. ;D

Re: The confession topic
I have that problem too. What I do is go in 5 minutes before closing and put the minimum bid in to 'set' my account and then I can sipe at aroup 5-7 seconds without the log in issue. In that case, I congratulate you on your skill. Â Everytime I try to snipe in under 10 seconds, I miss. Â (Ebay doesn't understand the concept of "keep me logged in" anymore >:()

Re: The confession topic
I usually don't snipe because I'm too lazy to do so ...
However, it does not require many skills to understand that you get the best deals when you snipe.
People who have a huge amount of free time have an advantage towards others and, honestly, I believe eBay looses money with sniping.
Had I sniped on this item, I would probably have won it for $152. I did not snipe and thus it ended at $169. I believe sniping destroys value for eBay.
Also, I find it unfair because most interesting auctions finish while European people (except Dragsamou) as supposed to sleep, ie. in the middle of the night.
I think that eBay should implement a function allowing last 10-20 minutes bids ONLY to people who have already been high bidder AT LEAST ONCE since the beginning of the auction.
That would change everything.

Re: The confession topic
i actually believe snipping only works when others are doing it. i mean, if everyone's max bid really *is* their max bid (and assuming no new bidders appear) snipping will get you the same price you would have otherwise gotten. However, it does not require many skills to understand that you get the best deals when you snipe.
also, one of my professors would actually leave in the middle of class, on occasion, to snipe ebay auctions from his office. i thought that was funny, heh :)
