Misprint foil Saga Island

Post by psrex » Thu Nov 25, 2004 1:49 am

Here's an Ebay auction of an unusual foil Saga Island (not my auction):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT

I have requested a scan of the card to see if it looks legit or whether it is a modified card.

I think the modification is obvious.

I think a pencil eraser or some acetone would work.  Just don't use a cool card!

If you're trying to erase parts of cards, one tip that Randy Buehler gave on WotC's site one time was to mask off the areas that you want to keep with tape.  Then, when you're done just remove the tape and you'll be left with beautiful, crisp edges.  The Saga Island could have benefited quite a bit from this technique.

Very sloppy job around the artwork.  The edges are jagged and uneven.

Hey guys-

Give this kid a break - he doesn't say anywhere that it's a misprint.

This can be done chemically - I think the 'artist' uses acetate to take out the color under the foil.  It only works on the older foil cards.  I actually paid a guy a couple of bucks to do this to 3 of my foils - i think it's kind of funny (I play with the modified cards).  It's actually very, very difficult to lift the color out with any kind of precision - this is actually one of the best jobs of this kind I've seen.

If you don't like it, don't bid on it.
