mirage starter deck

Post by dry cereal » Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:43 am

For some reason I bought a bunch of starter decks (empty) off of ebay.  The mirage one I have says printed in US.  Is that normal?  I thought mirage was printed in belgium with the rest of em.
I can't believe I ate the whole thing

I don't know, but if Mirage was printed differently than other sets it could explain why mirage cards smell so good!  ;D ;D ;D

Mirage was printed in two different places. There is a slight diffenence in appearance on the two different versions too.

Somehow this came up in one of our 4th edition discussions & I related it to alt 4th & how we could hype the difference...

Where are Magic cards printed these days?  I just randomly picked up a Mirrodin tournament pack box and it says Made in U.S.

I was under the impression that they were all still made in Belgium, but I guess not.

Wasn't there some rumor about CM opening a plant in the US?

Mirage was partly made in US, partly in Belgium. There are some slight inking differences, I think one of them is a bit lighter on the back so you can distinguish the cards just by seeing the back if you know what you're looking for.

Righto... means you can have dark and lights sets of mirage. Not entirely sure if the ENTIRE set was made in both varients, but I think so....

One of those extra things to do i guess if you have all of the sets and need something to do , something to collect, etc. Would seem like kind of a fun project, as most cards you bought for the "two sets" you would have to buy and trade for in person, nothing online would be "concrete" enough to determine.

hrmmmm

I know that this doesn't directly answer where Carta Mundi prints the cards, but here is some relevant information on Carta Mundi's website:

In that link, they mention plants in Germany, the US, and the UK.  Did they ever have a plant in Belgium, or are they just based there?

The main Carta Mundi plant is in Belgium.  The referenced page doesn't mention it because this is the "International" portion of the company (i.e. not in Belgium).
