Blue Borders Cards.Posts Compilation.
Hi Members.
As this question,is a lot of times asked,I decided to collect all the Infos From the Old Forum about them.If
any members have more or New Infos please post them.
Some of you, will recognize their Old Posts.
I have a few cards from Fallen Empires that are noticably misprinted. I have 3 uncommons that have "blue" borders.
I thought Blue Borders cards were from Ice Age, not Fallen.
In 1996, it was quite known that some Ice Age (or Fallen) cards had been printed blue bordered, they seemed quite common ...
I personnally not have seen really really blue bordered cards. Some of my Ice Age cards' borders are definitely not as black as other cards but I still cannot call it blue.
Have your card a real blue border
Hi Guys-I can definitely confirm shiny Ice Age.In Indiana Ice stock would run out,for long periods and then be replenished. The ones that were several months apart are way different in ink density. The difference would register on any densitometer. The shiny ones really stand out too, you'll know it when you see them.
Since I have recently analyzed my Ice Age set I can definitely confirm this. However I noticed the "glossy" cards have more production flaws than the "normal" versions.
I have some of those Ice Age cards where the color of they border is not really black (nor really blue neither by the way) ... But a kind of dark grey ...
These are just normal printing errors that occur in any set. If this is anything special, I have a box of Chronicles that had crappy printing for every card. Does this mean I have a special rare set? No...I beleive I got the shaft and a box full of poorly printed cards. I think people are just looking for flaws to help increase the value of their collections.
Yes i bought a black light, too and found 4 cards from summer 4th. I´ve traded one of them (Living Artifact) on MOTL for around 30 $. The Ice Age cards can be not detected with the black light.
I found in Chronicles a dark card, too. The Copyright line for example ist complete grey instead white.

Re: BLUE BORDERS CARDS.POSTS COMPILATION.
as for the netherlands,
i do have seen some IA cards with greyish borders, never i saw a really blue, bordered IA card.
About the difference in card stock, that was also happening here.
Comparing my IA set, i noticed the difference, just like revised and summer.
Some cards are pale, while some others are darker, more rich colored.
At the time of IA, i bought boosters in my hometown (beilen) and a city about 100 km further, Leeuwarden.
I off course,i didn't pay any attention at the time, but it could very well be possible that there were differences in cards shipped to both towns.
Doesn't that bring up a whole new theory?
Ice age was printed as i recall at the same time as fourth.
It could very well be possible that the company responsible for the fourth summer edition have also printed a "test" run of ice age, seeing the difference in card stock, borders, inking etc.
Maybe something to think about

In this particular topic, would you consider the Yellow Ice Age cards to belong or not? I did not see any mention about yellow, but Ice Age seems to be pre-dominant. I only have a yellow Goblin Mutant, but have seen others. Have not seen any blue cards that I recall though.

now you mention it, i have a yellow arctic foxes.
I didn't care a single bit about misprints those days, but one card i always remembered, was the yellow arctic foxes i pulled out of my very first ice age booster (it was in leeuwarden)
I always kept it in a binder.
It was my very first misprint.
A lot followed him....but that's a different story

"Blue Bordered" Ice Age cards are really blueish-gray. There are no true blue borders to my knowledge. I've got tons of these. ;D

Re: BLUE BORDERS CARDS.POSTS COMPILATION.
I got screwed here too. My first box of Chronicles contained all ink smeared cards. I sent the whole thing back to WOTC for an exchange. (I wonder if I should have kept them?)I have a box of Chronicles that had crappy printing for every card. Does this mean I have a special rare set? No...I beleive I got the shaft and a box full of poorly printed cards. I think people are just looking for flaws to help increase the value of their collections.
And as far as blue bordered Ice Age, I think they are just a common misprint worth no more than darker bordered Ice Age. If anyone disagrees, I have a buntch for trade. :D

Re: BLUE BORDERS CARDS.POSTS COMPILATION.
I am not sure, but it is possible that IA was printed in more than one place, resulting in the different colorings. I know for sure that Mirage was, & there is a noticable differnce in the inkage.
The common misprints I have seen in IA are the "grey" borders (not blue like FE), glossy & thick kind, as well as some weird bleached ones. I have an albino Infuse, but I also have some white cards that look like they are, well, halfway there to the albino state. They are vey light, but have an excessive grey & light blue in them that "splotches" over the front of the card. These look strange. They are overlooked in my collection, because they are on the same page as the albino Infuse. I really don't know what to think of them.
On the subject of the nasty looking Chrinicles cards-I carry a few of them in my misprint binder- those who played back then look at the cards in disgust because we remember how many we opened, newer players think they look cool & are a valuable misprint. I personally think they look ugly.
