Yesterday I was chatting with somebody who went to Gencon, and he heard that a complete set has sold for 400,000 euros (so 535,000 USD). Only rumors so far, unless somebody here is aware of that sale.

I believe the correct information is less then that. I've been told this as well by reputable sources.

Well, a full set did change hands recently, but I've no idea what the price was. I suspect that other items in addition to the Summer set were included in the transaction, so maybe your price is correct but for more than just the Summer set.

+1 on this

After my posting I have been offered a complete set yesterday. It´s definately not the buyer from the other set but could be the same set (via 3rd party).

No, the set I was referring to went to Daniel Chang and he is piecing it out. Several cards have already been sold, so that set is no longer complete. I'd guess that the seller of the set you've been contacted about just likes the high price you posted. They'd be doing quite well to get that amount for a Summer set if they didn't have to include all the test prints that went with the other set.

I didn´t post a price myself, others did - but I can tell that Alexis did a good guess :)

Anybody knows with certainty if Daniel's set is really his rather than being on consignment?

As much as he likes to take pictures of stacks of bills on top of Legends boxes, I doubt he forked over the price for a full set of summer. I also doubt the consignee was asking $1500 per crap rare, but I guess Daniel has to make a profit somehow.

That's also what I've been thinking, since Daniel is new to the Summer Market and has no real idea of the prices of each of those cards, so buying a whole set would be total non-sense to me.

And yeah, I had noticed the picture with the Legends box and tons of money on top of it...haha

My guess is that, it's also not a complete set even if announced as complete.

I got to look through Daniel's summer set at gencon. As a vintage collector my reaction was the cards looked very nice. "Pack fresh" if you will. I think the only card sold at that time was the U Sea. Dave Edwards and I looked through every single card and didn't notice any gaps. I don't know summer well enough or have a desire to collect it but I picked up a blue hurricane from the set which I've always wanted. I won't disclose the price but based on my research it was fair.

I pretty sure Daniel bought the set as part of a huge collection that included stacks of test prints, etc that he also showed me.

What kind of test prints did he have? Were they just the colored-border test prints, or did he also have unglued test prints, 5th dawn test prints, exodus test prints, etc?

I wish I knew enough about test prints to know what I was looking at and to be able to answer your question. Based on what I saw, there were colored border test prints, other types of test prints (maybe blank white and foil?), cards with magic backs on both sides, misprints with pictures on both sides, and quite a few other things I had never seen before.

For reference, seems like Serendib Efreet sold for 15k.
The Vesuvan was 14k last week, now it's 10k. I think I'll wait one more week to see if it goes down to 6k haha.
