Foil Artist Proofs

Post by kalimno » Thu May 17, 2012 3:42 pm

I have been trying to put together a set of foil artist proofs released in 2006.

I managed to obtain :

- Grim Lavamancer Judge Foil / Mike Sutfin
- Meddling Mage Judge Foil / Nottsuo

I am still looking for:

- Exalted Angel Judge Foil / Rob Alexander,
- Pernicious Deed Judge Foil / Ittoku.
- Niv-Mizzer Champs Foil / Todd Lockwood,

Also if any other items that I am missing exists, I would appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Ari

Pernicious is still on ebay for $150, Exalted sold on May 3 for $200 BIN.

I have 5 of the Exalted Angel proofs although they're in my angels collection. Honestly I think $200 on the card was a steal. $200 is close to what Alexander was selling them for after GP Richmond back in 2006 or 2007 I think.

Thanks. I am aware of that Pernicious Deed, it has been there for ever. But I am hoping to find a better deal. In the end it is not a hugely desirable item.

If I recall correctly Rob was asking 75 $ and later 125 $. But I did not have the cash back in the day. I would be willing to pay something around 200 $ mark. Now, the issue is finding one.

Well Brian, no wonder they aren't showing up too frequently :) Anyway, 45 more is a good number. Better odds than Meddling Mage.

Now that we know where the angels went, which fellow collector hoarded the Dragons ? I have never seen a copy of Niv-Mizzet around. Do they really exist ?

I doubted the existance of Meddling Mage for a long time. But after a few years eventually found. I am hoping I reach the others before they get buried...

I remember when Rob was selling the angels back in Richmond I'm pretty sure he was asking $100 each for them then. He may have sold some prior to this but I'm not sure. After he got back home from Richmond he was offering them for $150 until he sold out. I believe the 5 I picked up were some of the lasts ones he sold. One of the 5 has a sketch on it as well which he did because Ben bought the original painting which I missed his e-mail that was sent 2 minutes before mine. Here's a scan a while back I took of the sketch. I have a friend that bought one of the AP angels but I highly doubt he'll part with it for $200.

Usually they aren't for some reason the Judge foils at this time were. I'm not sure if current judge ap's are available. I'm going to guess they aren't. I've never heard of a Niv full art AP I don't know if those actually exist. The other exist though.

Would it be worth dropping a post to the art director at WotC and asking? That is where decisions are made about APs.

- Exalted Angel Judge Foil / Rob Alexander,
I was just talking to Rob about this at Spectrum yesterday and he only has a few left in his vault and he is not interested in selling them. He said if he did it would not be less than $500. Sorry to break the bad news. Jason

I bought myself one, so that one is sorted. But anyway, I am open to add extras.

Now down to only Pernicious Deed. At least that has a more constant price tag...

Here I thought I was the only member that went to Spectrum. It was a great show to meet tons of artists, just a shame some of them did not bring their proofs with them.

I did not really advertise that I was going because my stacks were already so big to get signed that I couldn't really take anyone's cards with me. I didn't want to piss off the artists. It was an absolutely great show. Jason

Being considerate like that does really help. I also noticed that they do appreciate receiving art for their art.. green paper with pictures of Jackson, Grant, Franklin, greatly reduce the piss off factor.
