Foil Darksteel Colossus error, Chinese portal basics

Just curious if someone can give me a rough idea on value:

foil Darksteel Colossus with forest symbol in text box

alternate art Chinese portal islands (a set of 4 islands is $36 on motl, seems high)

Need to see a scan please--not sure what you mean by the mana symbol. Is it the forest textbox or an actual mana symbol?

its the forest mana symbol.

I dont know anything about the pricing tough.

The price for 4 Islands looks very good to me.

Thanks, I have not seen one of those. Is this a foil? Does the variation happen only on foils or on regular cards also?

No idea about pricing as it is not my area of interest.

wow, that's an amazing misprint!

so maybe the foil layer that was supposed to go onto a forest went onto the Darksteel Colossus instead? that's what the picture looks like...

I can't/won't give you an estimate of what the cards actual value could be as I don't deal with misprints, but I'd imagine there'll be a large variance on suggested value. basically, as always, it's ultimately what a buyer would pay for it.

makes me think about what if there was a foil card from the SOM block with a faction emblem misprint. that would be a LOT if the card sees heavy tournament play.

Weren't all the DSC's from M10 like this? Sort of like the Shadowmoor foil Reflecting Pool misprint.

I thought the same thing then started look around to see if I could find any scans of Darksteels on eBay but it's really hard to tell from the scans people put up. I think there was a certain number with this issue and then I want to say the fixed it but I'm not really sure or not.

There are a bunch like that, and the card is no longer playable, which is unfortunate. I believe one ebayed for $20 or so. My guess is $20-50, which is admittedly a wide range.

nah, it wasn't all of them. There is a thread around here about it somewhere. From memory there was a mythic foil of each color that had a mana symbol. Siege-gang commander had the blue mana symbol. Don't recall what the others were.

Thanks for the info. I have one in my cube, but I'm considering cutting it (and potentially selling/trading). I don't like it as its ONLY a tinker target. I wouldn't even replace it with BSC because I'd rather tinker performed slightly differently.

I found a thread on MTGSalvation : it appears some others cards were found to have a strange watermark too :

Honor Of The Pure with white symbol
Magma Phoenix with black symbol
Kalonian Behemoth with red symbol
Darksteel Colossus with green symbol
Siege-Gang Commander with blue symbol [s-chinese]

Every SHM Reflecting Pool was a white symbol

To answer this question, if the Islands you speak of are these below, then $36 seems fine for the 4. I paid at least $12ea for the 3 that didn't come in the 2-player starter four years ago, and maybe $4 for the more common Island version.
