Modern Master - What do you plan to do ?
Hi,
I need some advises about this Modern Master set.
What are you going to do in order to get it ?
There is no Release and Prerelease events.
Boosters box are available in pre-order at 299$ / 250€.... but that's for only 24 boosters only.
What are you going to do ?
I would like to get a set. The best is to buy boosters, or to trade for them piece by piece ?
This set is not redeemable, and a draft event is at 50€ at my local MTG Shop.
We don't have the full list yet ( only 50%).
Is this really limited ?
Do you have any tips to share ?

I personally ordered a case and plan on keeping it sealed. This will be a product that goes up after the initial print run is over.
If you want a set I would trade for the cards or buy them on MKM or FeeBay. If you are looking to put together a foil set I wish you the best that's going to be a tough one.

I have been struggling with the same problem. Worse part is that, for play purposes, there isn't a card in there I don't already have.
I am trying to get local shops to save me a box, no successes yet. They all tell me "depends on how many I get". If it really is limited it looks like I will be doing it one card at a time and paying through the nose for the really HOT playing cards.
Amazon.com has some dealers selling as low as 275 but that is not reasonable either.
My FEAR, though, is that distributors may do the same hording they did with Arabian Nights and other earlier sets where the reason stores never got as many as they should was because distributors held on to them (while blaming WotC for not sending enough).
We shall see.

I collect regular cards only, non foil.Magic61983 wrote:If you want a set I would trade for the cards or buy them on MKM or FeeBay. If you are looking to put together a foil set I wish you the best that's going to be a tough one.
The question is, the retail price should be 6.99$, but it's already 10$-12$ in pre order...Are this going to be 20$ each boosters ?
A foil set will be a nightmare. I don't want to image the price of the foil mythics.
I own a store. We are a premier store. Each premier store gets 18 boxes from Wizards and then whatever you can get your distributors to get for you.
The question is what am I supposed to do with 18 boxes? We have more than 18 regulars who want boxes. People want to draft the set. People want to buy packs. People want singles so we want to open some boxes. This set is really a no-win situation for stores.

I don't know how many boxes my local store is getting, but they've decided that no one can buy boxes. Everything is going to be sold through drafts where each draft is $28 per person (three packs plus one pack toward prizes). The first drafts will run Friday night, and then more on Saturday until the boxes are gone. My son and I are planning on playing Friday night, and I'd love to play Saturday but we already have plans.

Some infos from here in France :
I'm one of the 2 major MTG retailer in France.
We should have 20 boxes only from the official distributor.
In France, they're no difference if you sell 100 boxes by edition or 1000, only the WotC "shop level" is important.
We know that some USA shops will have A LOT more than europeans. (probably about 5 times).
We know that, as usual, some "big historical shops" in the world, will have A LOT more too.
Some interesting stats:
-You have to open 5 boxes (120 boosters) to open 15 Mytics.
-You have to open 1694 boosters (exactly, so 70 boxes and 14 boosters) to open 15 FOIL Mytics
-You will have only about 200 boxes send from the official distributor in Paris (all shops together).
My 2 cts now :
If you're a "small" shop, split your boxes to do some drafts and sell the rest at MSRP to you really good customers. Use them as a reward.
If you want to own a collection, wait a bit (about a month) then buy it on "insert any famous internet selling platform here".
If you want to invest, buy some boxes at 300$ and just wait about 4/5 years, then sell them at about 500$.
If you want to be sure to have all the boxes you ordered, buy them only at the biggest internet shops or at your local shop, but not at the "cheapest price on internet shop".

Well, I have one small breakthrough. A local shop is going to sell me one box at just a little over MSRP. Now if I could only talk him out of one more bax from the same case I would really feel good. What I might do is pick up another box someplace and trade it to him for a second box out of the same case.
I'm glad collecting Lugers has never been this complicated. The guy just told me "yes I have a sholder stock for an '02 Luger carbine. Price is $11,700." I'm not going to ask what the Luger itself cost......

Gary you can buy the whole gun for $10k-$20k uncased. Cased will be a bit more but I would strongly advise to not pay more then $3k for the stock.mystical_tutor wrote:Well, I have one small breakthrough. Yes, it's Maths !yvel wrote:Hi,
Thanks jamesbond, is that from statistics... or from your own experience ?
If you want my experience, if you open 1694 boosters, you'll miss about 3 foil mythics and you'll have about 2 or 3 in 3 or 4 exemplar.
I remember, at the shop when we opened innistrad boosters.
We should had about 2 or 3 of each foil mytics (mathematicly) but we opened only 1 complete foil set. unfortunatly we opened only 7 Foil Liliana of the Veil
Magic2013 is another story >:-( about the same amount of boxes but this time we opened 9 Foil Worldfire =D>

You are quite correct, I was exaggerating to make the point and should not have used such outrageous numbers. Sorry.
