How It's Made: Playing Cards

Post by GlobalBoosterHunter » Sat Oct 04, 2014 9:54 am

I am a sucker for this series but I have only just come across this episode.

Apologies if it has been posted before but a tour of a Cartamundi facility where they show you how they make playing cards is surely worth a second viewing...

I found this video really interesting. It solves a pair of doubts that I will add to my Counterfeit-Avoiding articles.

Good job!

PS: Now looking at how the 2€ coins are made...

Interesting of course! I came across that one after watching it:

It's about the United States Playing Card Company, which printed Alternate 4th Edition. Enjoy!

Interesting that USPCC puts its own glue on the cardstock, while Carta Mundi gets their stock ready to print.

I was surprised that USPCC stamps each card individually for corner rounding. I like the Carta Mundi stamping a whole stack better.

I noticed that neither video mentioned the clear top coat that is on the cards.

Just spent an entire evening watching YouTubes on playing cards, not a bad way to spend an evening but I am sure there was something else I was meant to be doing...
