Wizards Announces "From the Vault: A Mox in a Box"

Post by Volcanon » Sat May 17, 2008 6:03 am

From magicthegathering.com

We realized that only stuffy old collectors who have too much money own power, so now we've decided to make Type 1 more accessable to the average joe. That's why we are annoucing what will make every single power-hoarding dealer angry, From the Vault: A Mox in a Box!!!

For more information on how we don't care about the secondary market, see here, where we talk about why we devalue judge rares so much.

From the Vault: A Mox in a Box is a groundbreaking new expansion for Magic: the Gathering, where we reprinted Beta moxen exactly the same way that they were printed in the past, so you won't feel ashamed to be playing ugly reprints at your local "Vintage" tournament.

Because we like rewarding people who buy a lot of our product, 90% of all From the Vault: A Mox in a Box will contain Mox Pearl. 9% will contain Mox Emerald, 0.9% will contain Mox Ruby, and 0.1% will contain the moxen you actually want. Collect them all!

From the Vault: A Mox in a Box comes with a commemorative book where we talk about how we hate collectors, dealers, AND brick-and-mortar stores! However, we LOVE casual players like you! We also kinda love tournament players, but only if they play draft or sealed.

From the Vault: A Mox in a Box is slated to retail for $100, or because we hate stores, from the wizards.com store for $50 + $40 shipping. We don't combine shipping because we hate people who buy more than one of our products, and international shipping costs $200.

Look at this :

Same price, same concept. Someone at WOTC must be hired to browse Upperdeck's catalogue...

lol yeah. Upper Deck or Konami or whoever really HATES the Yugioh secondary market. They release at least two or three "chronicles" every year!

It must be a real jungle tp collect Yu-Gi-Oh. So many Tin Boxes, reprints, special decks... The Sets are short though compared to MTG or WoW.

I did not know about the rares. And boosters are MUCH more expensive. I could not believe it. YGO must be VERY profitable (the cards are poorly made too, they must be very fragile).

Yugicards are indeed fragile. I think it's because of the square corners which can be bent or dinged easily. Also, don't forget, tournament yugioh has featured the exact same cards as 3 years ago and every deck is the same.

Really ? I now understand why the YGO's pricelist in the French magazines are so small compared to MTG.

YGO cards are also thinner than MTG or WoW which is not a good thing when you consider they are supposed to be played by children.

The only thing I know is that they release numerous Tin Boxes, and just imagine one minute what would happen if they did the same with MTG. It would be a nightmare.

They also have stuff where the "most powerful" of a certain type of card is ALWAYS "super duper shiney ultra rare" and costs $300. Then a few months after they release it as a "super duper mega shine rare", they re-release it as a common in a precon or something.

So I heard. But the prices on the first prints stay very high.
