Maybe, but the shipping cost is just to high for European collectors

According to my local store, stores can get up to 1 vault boxset per case of Eventide bought so far.

If the store bought 10 cases, they can get 10 FTV:D boxsets, 40 cases, 40 boxsets, and so on.

Small stores won't get many. Star City Games will have tons...

I'm guessing they are using a distributor that is using the Vault to sell off their old Eventide, which seems to be clogging the supply chain right now. Not a bad plan from the distributor's side of things..

WotC in the US has no such system (that they've told us about publicly). Dunno about overseas.

Yes, but from bottom to top (older to more recent), the price keeps on rising.

Numbering

Post by equi-nox76 » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:07 am

hm, I would really like to know the limitation of this box.
On limited DVD special box sets and comics there is a numbering for example, that would be a good thing here too (of course everyone wants to have the No. 1 and the last one then :-D )

I'm curious too to know how the market will react to this after a couple of months.

Remember the WoW boxsets. The brown one was limited and its price went up very high.

They overproduced the Green one. The stores had overloaded their stocks with it and did not know how to sell them after awhile. The price is still very low now.

Manufactured Rarities usually don't do so well over the long term unless it's a limited sport car type of deal...

It would have been cool if they got Larry Elmore, Jeff Easley, Clyde Caldwell each to do a Dragon painting for the set.

Which WoW box sets do you mean? Winter Veil and something else?

Nope, the online game. The green one is the Burning Crusade.

Many sellers opened the boxes to sell the contents separately. Remember ?

Nope, the TCG started high as everyone was thinking Azeroth would be the new Alpha. But they reprinted and flooded the market.

The prices collapsed after the 3rd print run (smile).

Wholesalers are still delivered with Azeroth and Dark Portal in Europe...

Dark Portal has dropped in price by 65 %, Azeroth more than 50 %...

Only Fires of Outland with Spectral Tiger ($1000) has not been reprinted, but Spectral Tiger is given out as a Tournament Prize...

It will take time to judge WotC and Upperdeck strategies in terms of print runs.

For the moment, when it comes to marketing innovations, Upperdeck wins. WotC tries to follow their track.

Yeah, the prices collapsed on Heroes, allowing me to buy cases at stupidly low prices, break them down and make money simply on the LOOT cards, which have actually been going UP in value.

But I don't think any sets past Heroes has been reprinted. I think Dark Portal was simply, MASSIVELY, overprinted. Especially the starters. The value of Fires lies almost 100% on the Tiger, which I never did get..sniff.

Upper Deck has been short printing all their games recently. YuGiOh with Phantom Darkness and Light of Destruction for example. Both were gone from the main distribution channel in a week or two. They were discussing on the GAMA GIN boards the strategy and if it's good in the long run or not, and at what point a company should do a reprint.

You are right for the US I'm sure.

But when it comes to Europe, they may have overprinted too. Germany is flooded with old boxes, all expansions. Still time to get a Tiger in German :-)

Talking about reprints, Lorwyn has been reprinted, and the reprint has new Tips and Tricks backs... Showing Eventide or Shards, I am not sure, but I can check, a friend of mine got me a whole box of French Tips and Tricks.
