The toughest non-foil set to put together?

Post by berkumps » Sun Nov 11, 2007 6:48 pm

This is an opinion poll I guess. Just wondering what people think is the hardest nonfoil set to put together (regardless of language or condition). This excludes summer magic, of course.

EDIT: Let's assume money is not an issue

Ehm, I'm not sure what you mean.

Moneywise Alpha is obviously the toughest set, but if we're assuming unlimited money resources thenPortal 3 Kingdoms is the most tedious set to put together in English.

However if we do give language some importance the toughest ones are probably Japanese Mirage and Japanese 4th edition (WB) as well as stuff like Portal Second Age Italian, Portal Chinese etc.

Heheh hadn't seen Dragsamou mention Portal 2 Italian when I posted... we totally agree on that !

Certainly all the foreign Portal 2 sets are very very hard. S-Chinese 5th is pretty difficult too. Lately I've been having a heck of a time finding any fbb Spanish 4th.

As a follow up, some sets are easy to put together non-mint, like alpha/beta, but if you want MINT they become much much harder to do.

This is why I specified condition doesn't matter , otherwise Gem Mint Alpha would be extremely difficult (although some are well on their way http://www.psacard.com/set%5Fregistry/d ... meout=9999).

I thought white bordered Japanese 4th was pretty rare, and I also thought that Mirage Japanese was supposed to be some sort of limited print.

Tim, do you mean Jap Mirage singles compared to WB 4th singles? Or sealed product? Or both?

I mean both. For example a curernt search on ebay for japanese mirage has 8 matches, while "japanese 4th" has none that aren't bb.

Ah, but there's a reason for that.

People like Japanese. People like Black Border.

People like (and value) rarity they understand.

But only nutjobs like us understand the rarity of things like Japanese WB.

So while a Japanese Mirage Mystic Tutor is 'da shiznit', a 4th WB Japanese Wrath is just..well..a foreign WB wrath. To most people at least.
He's just this guy, ya know?
