Yup. He shill bid it up the first time and ended up winning it from himself. If you look at everything that he relisted it's all the stuff he won from the shill account.

Preston (kidicarus) is one of the most legit guys I know, so I would assume it was just a buyer who didn't pay or something. I can't imagine him shilling his own stuff, especially considering how much he does in sales.

Either way it will be interesting to see where the Bayou ends up this time.

Preston emailed me, since he can't post on here. This is his response:

"This is Preston, the owner of Icarus Magic. Ben was kind enough to post this response for me, since I was never able to get my account on librarities activated. I wanted to post this response to the libelous accusation made by magic61983 above.

First, I am surprised that you would accuse me of shill bidding without first doing your research. Only 2 of the Summer auctions currently listed are ones that were listed before. The Bayou and Raise Dead are both re-lists from buyers that did not pay (they were won by 2 different buyers). The other 9 auctions are different copies of cards I sold in the last round. That can easily be verified by looking at the scans and seeing they are different copies.

It's a little harder for you to see that I did not shill bid the Bayou and Raise Dead, but still not difficult. While you can't see the full name of buyers on eBay auctions, you can see the feedback number of each person bidding. If you had taken a few minutes to check that, you would see that the Bayou was bought by user "f**********b" with 5 feedback. It was also the only auction he has ever won from me. The Raise Dead was won by user "w*********0" with 218 feedback. User "w**********0" also did not pay for the Lightning Bolt and Red Elemental Blast he won, but I sent second chance offers for those and was able to sell them to another buyer who won a lot of my Summer stuff (I believe he is active on these forums, so if you know who he is you can contact him for verification. He is a well-known French rarities collector).

I did not send a second chance offer for the Bayou because the buyer sent a partial $2000 payment for it and said he would have the rest within a few weeks. After delaying until the beginning of February, I finally told him I would have to re-list it if he could not fully pay by this Monday. He did not have the full amount, so I refunded his partial payment and re-listed the Bayou. I will be happy to provide blacked out screenshots of the payments and refunds if you would like, just e-mail me and I will be happy to send them to you (Kalle has my personal e-mail address and he can give it to you).

I would appreciate an apology for the libelous comment you made above. I am one of the largest MTG dealers in the world and did not get to where I am by cheating my customers. Accusing me of shill bidding is the same as accusing me of stealing from my customers. I am strongly offended that you would make such an accusation without bothering to check the facts first. Anyone who has done business with me knows my character and knows that I am one of the nicest and most honest businessman you will ever meet. I have never once cheated any of my customers and I try extremely hard to ensure every transaction goes smoothly.

I apologize if this response seemed harsh or rude, but I was extremely offended when I read your post. I am sure you would also be angry if someone falsely accused you of stealing.

I thank you for your time and welcome any questions you may have. I won't be able to respond to them on this thread because of the account issue, but please feel free to e-mail me if you have any concerns.

Sincerely,

Preston Cordy (kidicarus2000 on eBay)"

Best would be an apology and deletion of everything.

Sorry for the account issue, our hands are bound, but we need to find a solution.

Thanks for the clarification Gunslinga. Sorry to anyone Preston and anyone else I might have offended.

On my part, I will do more to verify the facts before jumping to any conclusions.

Hey Preston,

Sorry for the accusation. I was told this by another person and really didn't do the research I should have done before I posted the comment. Thank you for the explanation.

I'm a little disappointed the Bayou didn't sell for more. =( I was hoping it would go for $3500 since it's on the same level as my Taiga.

True and I agree (as I look at my other summer duals).

But at least this validates the fact that many of the key summer prices have doubled or more since mid 2009 and it looks like these prices will continue to climb moving forward.

So yes just give it time as fvzappa said... (and probably not much at that)

Yea, all we need is a nice batch of good summer cards of all rarities to hit ebay in a few months. As long as the seller is fairly well known we'll see another jump.

I feel sorry for those working on a set...
