If I was moving out in a hurry I could *possibly* leave behind "junk" cards.
At the same time, the boxes look really new for being "abandoned". and I don't know of anyone that would leave a few cards on top of all the others. All in all, suspicion is greater than curiosity. Would not have put more than $50 bid in.

As a follow up thought, I wonder when the auction for the used socks and t-shirts will be listed...

For the $1050 bid, if the seller is patient enough and has a big enough client base (say, SCG), even if all of the cards are junk the winning bidder could start showing a profit on this deal after 12 months. That is, of course, presuming all the stuff in the boxes is really ABU/AN/AQ.

If I wasn't an 8 hour drive away from Roseville, CA, I'd ask to take a look at the lot in person before bidding/paying.

There was a guy who lived in Canada (Toronto if I remember correctly) who offered similar lots. The seller acted like he was clueless about MTG, but the cards on top were always the best cards in the entire lot. His first few auctions went wonderfully, and then the feedback came back bad.

I used to come across decent boxes of cards every once in a while, but the bid price is steep for a gamble. And the way the auction is described, there won't be any returns allowed if the rest of the cards are Fallen Empires and 4th Edition.

Riiight and that is why you created your listing with pictures in order of set release and value.

Note: Nowhere in the listing does it actually state what cards are in the boxes other than the few shown (that he did not touch) and the marker labels on the boxes. From this the poor suckers are supposed to extrapolate that all cards in the Beta box are in fact Beta, and so on.... But if they are not, you cannot put a claim of item not as described since there is no description actually given. Oh yah and "no returns accepted".

I really really hope no-one from these boards is bidding on this because it is only going to end bad. And if you are just putting in joke lowball bids, you are just hurting some other poor sap that is going to end up with this lot of junk cards for a lot of money.

This is what I was wondering. In my opinion, the corners of the cards in the alpha box don't look rounded enough to be alpha.

I'm not sure if anyone has already said this or not but if you look at the auction description it states.

"This is a mixed lot of 24,000-26,000 Magic the Gathering cards including boxes."

The seller doesn't state that the boxes are labels correctly or say that the cards in the boxes are from Alpha through Antiquities. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that all the cards are junk besides the 20 or so from the early sets.
