weird ebay auction - Korean Blinkmoth + Fetchlands

Post by jamesham » Wed Dec 01, 2010 11:18 am

i thought it was a simple mistake, but he emphasizes the fact that it is Korean (in red writing) in the body of the listing:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1x-KOREAN-Blinkmoth ... 230c1267f2
weird!
edit: i've just noticed the fetches too:
http://shop.ebay.com/andreadynamite/m.h ... m270.l1313
scam i guess
edit 2: he notes that the bottom of one of the fetchland listings that the card is actually not Korean but Japanese, but it's not clear - he should remove all references to Korean cards (and he doesn't note this with Blinkmoth)
so i guess it's ignorance rather than a scam

most people can't tell the difference between s-chinese, t-chinese, japanese, or korean. Sometimes they write "asian" which is okay I guess. Other times they just plain guess or think all those fall under a certain language and label everything the same. Best bet, ask for pictures/scans.

I know none of those languages. I'd say I can do a fairly good job telling apart everything but s-chinese vs t-chinese, but I also know not to guess, lol.

I agree with you James the only thing is once an auction is listed you can't change the title. I have a feeling that's why the seller hasn't changed it. He would have to pull the auction down and repost which would cost him. Also once someone bids on the item he can't go in and change the description so that's probably another issue.

eBay allows like 100 free auction-style listings a month. this moved up from their 5 free a month from months back. unless eBay tiers who can and who cannot list for free, the seller could close and relist the item.

and, the seller can always update the auction.

this to me is such a basic error, since there's no way cards from these sets could be printed in the Korean language, and it's problematic since Korean cards seem to be particularly popular at the moment - so even if people don't bid on these cards it wastes time (and pushes the sellers items up) in searches relating to 'Mtg Korean'
