Problem/question about international shipping.

Post by gzeiger » Thu Apr 29, 2010 1:31 am

I've done quite a few transactions on Ebay and other sites over the years, but a new situation came up today. I have a buyer whose address as provided by both Ebay and Paypal is entirely in Chinese characters. I don't think I can reproduce it by hand, which is how I normally address envelopes. I don't even know what aspects of the "lettering" are important to reproduce.

I don't currently own a printer that will handle mailing labels, and it's only about a $5 transaction, but I would like to be able to send the guy his card. What can I do to make that happen?

I have emailed him asking for a translated address, but his English is very weak and I don't know any Chinese, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get anywhere that way.

copy/paste the address into a google doc (or other word processor that handles unicode). Increase the font size big enough for printing, print it out, write "China" at the bottom, and bring it to the post office for mailing.
