organizing magic garbage

Post by dry cereal » Tue Jan 18, 2005 1:55 am

I collect magic garbage and have a lot.  Many random things such as a letter from wotc to some random guy explaining the wald.  I have no clue how to organize this.  I don't have binders.  Any suggestions?  Also, I don't even know how to organize my cards.  I like to keep the garbage rares in a pile, but then there are garbage rares I like for nastalgic reasons, like revised mahamoti djinns.  At the same time, it is silly to make a binder of them, and I don't have a box's worth.  Any ideas or suggestions?

I have a box under my bed that has that stuff in it.

Decklists
Magic playing card deck
random tokens
dice
glass pebbles
empty booster boxes
the Magic calendar
deckboxes
Michael Stranc's nationals draft decks

that sort of thing.

The best way to store/organize magic garbage is a magic trash can.

I am in the same boat.  I have:

magic table cloths, promotional materials, life counters, dice, beads, about 100 deckvaults with decks, cds, magic videos, posters, artist prints, artist catalogues, shirts, arena folders, 4 row boxes of misc deck protectors, maigc bumper stickers, and binders.

Other than plastic shelving from walmart, I don't know what you should use.  shelving is good though.  Especially for my magic trophies.

Well Cereal man, maybe I can suggest something that I will be doing.  Getting an official MTG table, and putting everything on top of the table - that way it is all in one place, and you do not have to look for the special items, it will all be in one big pile in one location.

and one day if you realy start to hate the stuff you can light it and then have a nice campfire.
I do that too(pileing not the burning) and sometimes I play on it!

I collect magic garbage and have a lot.
Are you married?  If so, mention to the wife casually sometime how much you have spent on Magic over the years.*  Depending on her reaction, pretty soon the Magic stuff will be all gone, or she will, and hey, either way, you get more space.

Merf

*Actually this is not really a good idea if you are married.  Her shoe collection might start growing faster if she knows what you spend on cards.  Ixnay on the uthtray, just perfect your blank look while saying 'I have no idea'.
Collecting Merfolk and Lords of Atlantis, 1 of each, every language, misprints, etc.
