Value of Foiled Unhinged Set
Hi,
I have a Foiled Unhinged Set, including Super Secret Tech.
Would anybody know an approximate value?
Is there somebody who would be interested in such an item?
Thanks for any advice,
Menno Rieff (mfgrieff@hotmail.com)

Well, I haven't sold a set off, but I have sold too many rares.
SST: Price bounces a lot, let's call it $12.50
5 Foil Lands: $25.00 or so (island above 5, plains below).
Other rares: $1 each on a GOOD day
Everything else: Be happy with $5 for it all.
So maybe around $90, or $100 for being a total set.
I found that it's far better to sell the cards off singularly to stores that want the individual rares for 'full inventory' purposes..

I would, but I would have to do it through somebody else account (not being in the US will hurt the selling prize, and I don't have a premium account)Tha_Gunslinga wrote:This is definitely worth more than 90-100, but there's no way to determine the true value until a foil set ends on ebay. Do you feel like putting it up?
Allthough I doubt this would be the right time to do so. The USD/EUR coversion rate is terrible.
this makes me think foil rares are worth a lot more then 1$ each

most online stores have foil rares form 3-5$ each.
EDIT: resived see later post.

Time to revises my estimateGryfalia wrote:Online stores are a horrible..HORRIBLE..way to decide on prices. At least their sell prices are. Their buy prices are much more useful..;-)
But I would suggest that people are trying to make sets, so 3-4 bucks a rare (depending) could be more reasonable..

commons .5-1
Unc $1.5-3

with 40 rares in the set. Plus SST and Mox-Lotus, 5 lands, etc. Going to have to save foil set is in the $300-400 range. as an outright guess.

Values of foil sets bounce around, and are very dependent on collector interest.
But consider the pricing of regular foil sets. Most smaller sets run between $160 and $220 (~ $1 per card, or less than $5 per rare, regardless of how expensive single rares might be). Big sets rarely reach $500, and many go for as little as $300 to $350. This can be as low as $3 per rare.
Unhinged has the problem of not being very popular and not being tournament legal. I have seen non-foil players sets of Unhinged (4 of each card) without SST sold for $90 on eBay.
If you can sell the foil set by the card you might get the higher prices, but even Alpha sets go for discounts when sold as complete sets (relative to the individual card values) .

I think demand for Unhinged is low, but it does look like the print run and the amount of product opened was very low. but if people are picking up Foil Crap Rare of unplayabel cards for 5-10$ something is up. Since even in small sets foil crap rares are only 1-2. not 5
Playset sets are for playing but foil sets are for collecting, so a different group would be intrested. I woud love to own a foil unhinged set, but have no intrest in a nonfoil one.
Also note that recent sets can also be made foil cheaper on MTGO and redeemed, then in real life, so that may be driving the over all set value down on recent foil sets.
Yes sets do get a discount, but i think set demand is higher then Singles demand (i'm guessing everyone picking up the foisl on ebay are trying to make sets) for unhinged, so i think the discount would be a lot less then say with an Alpha or T2 set.
But gunslinger said it best, value can't be set till one sells on ebay. Still think 300 is a good place to start.

Not a single one of those rares sold for over $10 (excluding shipping).
1/3 of them didn't sell at all.
And of the ones that DID sell, the same guy bought all but 2 of them.
I would assume he was working on a set (really risky assumption, I know).
So it's a matter of hitting a buyer who really wants it. List it at $300. Why not. Try it a couple times. Then slowly work down..

you need to click on the purchases not look at the bids. Yes there are 2 guys buying most of them. but there are other buyers on there.
