Artistproofs question
As of recently i've had an unplesant thought, do artistproofs exist for each set and in each language ???
In short i've calculated aprox. 30+ Lord of the Pit's in differtent sets and languages, does this mean there are an equal amount of proofs to be collected? :o
And so, where does one begin....
Peter

Re: Artistproofs question
Artist proofs are only printed in English. In addition, if I remember correctly, there was only one set of proofs for Alpha/Beta/Collector's Edition. So that's quite a bit to knock off your list.
You just have to collect artist proofs from:
- Limited (Alpha/Beta/Collector's Edition)
- Unlimited
- Revised
- 4th Edition
- 5th Edition

Re: Artistproofs question
Hmmm. Well, I'm confused. I know they only do English proofs nowadays. It was apparently different in the beginning.

Re: Artistproofs question
I'm sure there were some wb or bb 4th sets with foreign artist proofs, as Amy Weber has sold such dragon whelp proofs in the past (I regret I didn't find them worth buying back then, argh).
It would be nice if we could compile a list of all sets/languages foreign artist proofs were printed in, does anyone here have any foreign artist proofs, to start with? ^^
Oh and Matt, were there really unlimited proofs? I have never seen one so assumed they dont exist :-/

Re: Artistproofs question
The only foreign sets I have seen APs for are Italian and Portuguese Ice Age and Chinese 4th. I've never heard of Italian Legends proofs. There are definitely no proofs of Unlimited (only CE proofs of these cards exist) nor of Arabian Nights.

Re: Artistproofs question
Nah, I'm just making guesses at stuff I don't really know about. Probably not the best idea. All I knew at the time was that there was only one set of proofs among A/B/CE.

Re: Artistproofs question
I used to own an Asian BB Immolation Artist Proof. I gave it to MOTL member ldsjr, however. There were definitely foreign artist proofs done at one time.
On another note, how likely is it that Mark Rosewater got APs for "Look at me, I'm the DCI"?

Re: Artistproofs question
Wouldn't there be artist proof for the re-edited version of the foreign cards with a skeleton pics?

i own 85 artist proofs, seven of which are foreign. i will try to catalogue what sets they come from so that we can start a database.

Re: Artistproofs question
To my knowledge, there are no Unlimited Artist proofs.
The only Foreign APs I am aware of are:
- Ice Age Portuguese, French and Italian
- Chinese 4th BB
Apart from that, I think they started to make artist proofs for each sets starting at 5th Edition.
All extensions but Arabian Nights have APs in English.
:)

Re: Artistproofs question
Nope. From talking with Pete Venters on the WOTC boards, I found out that they don't get Proofs of cards they do the alternate art for.Wouldn't there be artist proof for the re-edited version of the foreign cards with a skeleton pics?
Also, I have a French (I think it's French) Pale Bears, so that's another language for the older ones. Not sure when they stopped doing foreign languages though.
