The spindown dice project

Post by Celebrindor » Mon Jan 03, 2005 4:14 pm

As some of you may recall, Ralph and I are each trying to collect a complete set of spindown dice.  I plan to buy a large number of fatpacks, and sell everything but the dice.  As promised, after the new year (aka, now) I am going to make this project one of my top priorities.

First, I am making a website with a table of what Ralph and I have, and what we need.  Ralph, I need your dice Havelist please.

More on this later, need to go to work.

Absolutely off-topic but I guess there is a typo in your sig at #MagicRarities (missing the last 'i').
Please help me finish my Boosters collection

I have a question...i recently acquired a pair of 6-sided dice with a black lotus where the '1' should be (like where the 20 should be on some spin-downs).  anyone have any idea where these came from?

I am eager to see lists for official spindown dice ;) because there are a lot of third party circulating like those ten-sided ones with mana symbols (00-90 & 0-9, the 0 is a manasymbol i.e. forest).

The 6 I got directly from WOTC, so I'm sure they're 'official', just not sure what they're official for...

They are for older things.  I use to get them a lot and I think wizards sold them in packs of 6.  You use to be able to buy a pack of 6 dice with the Lotus for about 4.95.

For the purposes of my collection (I cannot speak for Ralph) I want only the d20s that came in the fatpacks, plus the 'lotus' ones and the deckmaster ones.  I'd be interested in seeing a picture of the d6, and no, I have no idea where they came from.

I saw squt's 6 sided dice myself.  A pic would be nice, but here is further description:

An off white, almost bone color.  The one pip is replaced with a Lotus.  All inking is black in color.

I think so.  And now that you mention it, I think I remember the magic dice-pack.  I'm sure that's what they're from.  Thanks!

Celebrindor: Thank you for bringing this up. Like you, I only collect the official 20-sided dice: all the ones from the Planeshift Fat Pack to the present Fat Packs (future releases included) plus the Lotus ones plus the Deckmasters ones. My have list is simply a complete set minus my want list (http://www.magiclibrary.net/ralph-want.html).

rg: Do not worry, they will be added some time.

squt: I have not heard of an official Magic Dice Pack before. Could you please elaborate?

Ok, so my current plan is to make a table.  It will be coded, like 'I need' 'Ralph Needs' 'Both Need' 'Neither need'  Sound good?
