Ante cards missing from some non-English sets
I just read my first "MTG Official Encyclopedia" again. And took notice on this text:
"Often, the original version of the card set is modified slightly to suit its market; this is why, for example, ante cards do not appear in the Portuguese version of the basic set. (Gambling is illegal in Brazil, the major market for Portuguese cards.)"
Is this true? And does that mean that Bronze Tablet, Rebirth and Tempest Efreet arent printed in 4th? (perhaps there are more ante cards?)
eager to know...

Re: Is this true?
This is true, i never opened portuguese 4th packs, but since it's true, i think there won't be any ante cards in it."Often, the original version of the card set is modified slightly to suit its market; this is why, for example, ante cards do not appear in the Portuguese version of the basic set. (Gambling is illegal in Brazil, the major market for Portuguese cards.)"

Re: Is this true?
This of course means that at least one Magic set in Portuguese is missing a few cards. Oh well, more exceptions to keep track of.
Re: Is this true?
Ok then its only 375 cards in portuguese 4th then... :-/
I wonder what they printed in the 3 spots that were removed on the card sheets...
I have another question u experts might be able to answer... ;D(I take the question here instead of making a new tread..)
I was going through Antiquities and saw this on Wizards checklist, and crystalkeep:
Mishra's Factory, autumn Kaja & Phil Foglio U1
Mishra's Factory, spring Kaja & Phil Foglio C1
Mishra's Factory, summer Kaja & Phil Foglio U1
Mishra's Factory, winter Kaja & Phil Foglio U1
Strip Mine, horizon, even stripe Daniel Gelon U1
Strip Mine, horizon, uneven stripe Daniel Gelon U1
Strip Mine, no horizon Daniel Gelon C1
Strip Mine, small tower in forest Daniel Gelon U1
But when I travel around on the web to other places like mtgnews and essentialmagic they say that it is Mishra's Factory Winter and Strip Mine, small tower that are the more common cards... how is it truly?

Re: Is this true?
Winter and Small Tower have always been the rarest locally.

Re: Is this true?
The official card lists are correct. In both cases three of the four versions are equally rare (U1), and the fourth version is more common (C1). However, one of the three U1 versions has been reprinted, thus making it less valuable than the other two. Basically, the two remaining non-reprinted U1 versions are equally rare and hence should be equally valuable, but personal preferences have voted one over the other, thus causing a price difference based solely on the artwork.
Re: Ante cards missing from some non-English sets
About the Ante cards NO ante cards have been printed in portuguese, because there is no gambling allowed legally around here.
So, there is not a portuguese Tempest Efreet, nor Rebirth, nor Bronze Tablet, nor Amulet of Quoz, nor Timmerian Friends.
Also, there are a few IA cards that had a VERY scarce print run in Porrtuguese:
Giant Trap Door Spider
Wall of Pine Needles
and some other ones i forget...

Re: Is this true?
Thanks for the explanation. I have 5 AQ Factories, and they're all Spring. Of all my AQ Strips, at least 75-80% are the more common artwork. The official card lists are correct. Re: Ante cards missing from some non-English sets
Regarding the Antiquities cards, I agree completely with the official listing. For the Factories I have 16 Springs, but only 5 or 6 of the other seasons. For the Strip Mines I have 12 of the "no horizon, no tower" version, but only 5 or 6 of the others.
Where have all the Magic sticker sets gone?
Re: Ante cards missing from some non-English sets
Why would those cards be less common inPortuguese Ice Age?

So then what replaced these cards on the printed sheets?
So, there is not a portuguese Tempest Efreet, nor Rebirth, nor Bronze Tablet, nor Amulet of Quoz, nor Timmerian Friends.

Re: Ante cards missing from some non-English sets
I found out the truth of this topic the hard way...I won a "Complete set" of Portuguese Homelands on ebay for about $30 a few years ago. When I got it, I was angry that it was missing a card. I spent the next 3 or 4 years scouring the earth for a friggin Timmerian Fiends to complete the set!
