Hi Evan.
The rare is in different positions,depends of which Portal Packs.For Example in Traditional Chinese Portal,I have found Rares in 3 Different locations.

Is it that hard to recognise rares and uncommons among the commons, van? I guess you want to know this to sort them more easily, but it's not THAT hard to know if it's ebon dragon or spined wurm that was the rare card in the booster... :)
There's always good text lists handy online, also. *duh*

Yes, but half the challenge is that cards that are Rare in portal quite often aren't rare in their original sets.  This causes a stutter step of confusion as you try to recall which set had it as the rare, which the uncommon (or common).

Back when I was opening boxes of Portal, that's what I would normally do, open up a card list from WotC or someone similar and work that way.
