The Magic Librarities

My wife is learning French and one of the things that has helped her learn other languages is to read books in the language that she is learning. She has looked at some of the books that are available in French, but many of them are books that have been translated from English or other languages. I'm sure that much of this is due to what Amazon and other sites in English are going to recommend. Given that there are a number of French members here, I was hoping that someone here might have recommendations of young adult novels written by French authors. Does anyone have popular young adult authors or books that I can recommend to her?

The first one that comes in mind to me is... "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupery of course. Or try the Jules Verne's novels. Is this that kind of stuff that you're looking for ?

I was thinking of something more recent (like within the last 20 years), but those are actually really good suggestions. Sometimes its hard to think of the obvious.

I'd love to hear more, if you have any other suggestions.

I really like the books of the 'malaussene saga', from Daniel Pennac, the first one of the serie is 'Au bonheur des ogres'
It's very easy to read, very funny.
Or 'Le magasin des suicides', from Jean Teulé.

If it can help, Marc Levy's books are known for being easy-to-read and appreciated by women.

My beloved wife especially enjoyed "Le Premier Jour" and "La Première Nuit".

Pennac = good advice. Moreover, he looks like Stephen King IMO !

His novels for children based on the character "Kamo" are thrilling.
